Why High Charity Can't Go to the Ark

Sources: “Diameter: 72.79 miles (117km)"* -Page 146, Portal at Voi, Halo EVG “Diameter: 216 miles (348km)” -Page 93, High Charity, Halo EVG Math: Start: 1/X = 117/348 Cross Multiply: 117X = 348 Divide by 117: 117X/117 = 348/117 Simplify and Finish: X = 2.97 Conclusion: Based on the math equation, if we round up, we can say that the portal to the Ark is ⅓ the diameter of High Charity’s diameter. There has yet been an instance in Halo’s canon where a Forerunner slipspace portal has allowed an object larger than it to pass through it. Therefore, we can not make an accurate inference/suggestion/conclusion that objects larger than a Forerunner portal can travel through it. If such a conclusion is made anyway, then an answer needs to exist as to why the Forerunners waste energy on opening portals larger than the object that is passing through it. (See: Halo 4) This irrefutably means that it is implausible for High Charity to have used the portal at Voi to travel to the Ark. ---------------------------------------------------------------- *The Halo EVG page titled “Portal at Voi” states it is referring directly to the slipspace portal, and not the machine generating it. “COMPOSISTION: Slipspace field generated by a massive gateway machine” -Page 146, Portal at Voi, Halo EVG

I have an idea. It was always blown off that High Charity could not make the trip on it's own and arrive at the time it did. However, let's do a little more thinking on the subject. Who was it that was essentially piloting High Charity? It's our good old buddy Gravemind. What are Graveminds particularily known for? Being biological collections of information on par and above super computers. Now, it isn't known, or at the very least, to me, if Graveminds retain the full knowledge of their previous incarnations. But, even if they don't, who do we know that could bend slipspace around like a balloon animal? Forerunners. Who else had an even higher understanding? Precursor's. And the Flood have the knowledge of both. Now, here comes the drum roll. What have we ever encountered in the Haloverse that has even further confused us about the nature of slipspace? Drum roll please! The Slipspace crystal discovered at Sigma! And who possessed this crystal at the end of all things and kept it aboard High Charity? Why, it would be our good buddy Truth! So, in all the ruckus of High Charity's invasion, Truth and all the other San 'Shyuum cheesed it and left all their shit behind for the Flood to claim. Now, why would our good prophet buddies look for and not only keep a broken crystal and it's fragments? Probably because, even though fractured, there was the possibility of it having some use. So, now that we factor in an intelligence that rivals and outpaces super computers, and knows it's way around not only Forerunner slipspace but Precursor slipspace as well, what do you get? A SOLUTION TO YOUR CANON PROBLEMS! So, here's a couple scenarious about how High Charity showed up when it did. 1. Gravemind used the crystal to warp and tinker with slipspace, because if anything would know how to use that crystal to it's full potential, it would be him, and shunted himself from slipspace into the portal leading to the ark. Picture a railway track. This is the path to the ark. Now picture a train on seperate tracks jumping into the air and hopping onto the first set of tracks for the ride. This was High Charity. 2. Gravemind, knowing things that we don't, possibly could have figured out where the portal led after having found it's entry point. And, rather than shunt himself into the pathway with brute force, used the crystal remnents as a speed booster to augment High Charity's own engines. So, I'll leave off with this. *Ba dum tish*
