The Base game, not the expansions. I've been playing it for the first time ever...even though I always said I would never play it due to the amount of racist undertones are in the game. I just think it's super linear and kinda boring...the only reason I want to beat the game is to kill the guy who set up this city and all it's racism.

I enjoyed the story, but like the original, the game play left a lot to be desired.
-
I loved every single second of it. It was a beautiful and horrible world.

It's fine. It looks nice, and the story and setting are interesting. The gameplay feels very lackluster compared to the other 2 Bioshock games that took place in Rapture though. I have more fun playing those.
-
Meh. Great story and art direction. The gameplay stops it from being amazing though.
-
I'm thinking about getting Burial at Sea. Otherwise, no.
-
It's very pretty with kinda boring gameplay, and a pretty ok story. I don't really have the desire to go through it again.
-
I thought it was excellent.

i hate the amount of voxophones you must try to find in one playthrough

I love Infinite

BioShock infinite is actually my favorite game in the series. The racism in the game is due to the time period its set in. It made me pretty uncomfortable whenever it showed up too, but you have to look past it and then you can appreciate all the backstory and easter eggs. The BioShock series tend to fall victim to whatever time period its set in. You just have to look at it as a true representation of the time period. To help you appreciate the game, look into the songbird theories. Its really awesome.

The Burial at Sea part 2 dlc is 10 times better! Especially if you've played Bioshock 1
-
meh its a good game in its own right but didn't grab me you know couldn't get into the story
-
I enjoyed it but after I beat it I didn't really play it. The only reason why I started playing it again is because I got a DLC for it.

3 RepliesI really hate the influx of social justice into videogames the last couple years. If videogames are an art form, they should be above such criticisms. I just don't understand why people think they need to fit in with their personal beliefs to be considered "good". It's dumb.

I liked it...

I prefer the first bioshock.

The one thing I loved about Infinite was the atmosphere that was the city in the sky. What made it were those little moments, walking through the carnival, playing the guitar to Elizabeth's voice, the folk songs being sung by the poor workers and that lone woman in the back alley with all the revolution posters. Those wonderful little things didn't have to be looked for, nor were they just thrust in your face. It really felt like I was stumbling into them, truly finding them without having to pull the old strategy of turn the opposite way of the compass. What killed the game, was playing the game. When the game was first revealed, they made me feel like I would be traversing the entire city at once, flying over people letting my machine gun whir. And yet, the game turned out empty when it came time for action. There were only a few scenes where it felt like I was in public, in this living city. Past that, it was more municipal buildings upon municipal buildings with torn up luggage everywhere, but no people. Then there's the story, which started off so interesting, so mysterious and intriguingly confusing. I wanted to push on, but the game play was just so repetitive, I got tired of it. Even then, the story itself just started to fall apart. The whole multi-universe plot was so watered down with Elizabeth crying out as she struggles to control herself, and flipping into another hostile world as an excuse to make a few more repetitive enemies. The ending itself felt so rushed and half-assed, it was like they just said "here, we don't know how to conclude this game, and we kinda forgot what we were doing in the first place, so here's this little explanation that allows us to wipe our hands clean from not concluding so many little holes." Seriously, where did everyone go? It's not like there was anywhere to go, but absolutely anyone not a guy and not a police officer or revolutionary just up and disappeared.

Personally, I think Bioshock, overall, is just an overrated series. Especially the first one. But don't get me wrong. I enjoyed them, and I think Infinite has a -blam!-ing amazing story, and crazy ending, but 1 and 2 are kind of just average. Even Infinite's gameplay wasn't anything special. I didn't think it was bad, though. Just your average gameplay. The story is what makes me think Infinite stomps on 1 and 2.

Edited by Toa Axis: 4/3/2014 2:18:48 AMGreat art design and an okay-ish story, but the gameplay was sorely lacking. Plus most of the thematic undertones the game tried to present kind of fell flat. It presented us these themes, but didn't really discuss the implications of them in a meaningful way.

I feel it was last years best game

1 ReplyI meant to address this point the other day:
I've been playing it for the first time ever...even though I always said I would never play it due to the amount of racist undertones are in the game.
You do realise the game is intended to be a vocal criticism of racism, right? Can't really address an issue without including it in your story.
I would never play it due to the amount of racist undertones are in the game
That's the entire idea, it's a satirical game, just like the Wizard of Oz was political.
-
I like the story but I really don't like the combat.

1 ReplyHaha. I love you r last line because the ending will blow your mind
