I've gone up to Calculus II. What about you? What do you think the highest recommended math class should be in public schools?

Some of my math had letters, I think that means it was smart people math.

I miss when Math was still called Math.

Calc IV... never again... I don't wanna see another math problem for as long as I live...

Took calc 3 this year (Senior in high school), BC last year.

I'm taking calc II now, I'm going to take up to calc IV

Algebra 2.....

College calculus College trig College statistics

So far, that title goes to my Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus class last semester. I'll be taking Calculus AB and BC next semester, though :D
-
I've done some calc BC, but that's it.

Ive finished all of my "pure" math classes, with the highest being engineering math and calculus III (engineering major).

2 RepliesTrigonometry. -blam!-ing useless if you ask me. The highest mandatory level in public high school should be Algebra II in my opinion.
-
1 ReplyI'm only in Algebra I.

Advanced Arithmetic IV

Applied Differential Equations. I would minor in math, but I like physics more.

public schools? just calculus. on my own? after silent asked me i brushed up until solid angle integration. then i dropped advanced math for a bit. i should review it when i get the time...

I'm currently in honors precalc now and it's pretty easy. I want AP calculus BC next year, but my school is giving me shit because I don't have a 97 year average.

Edited by Hylebos: 3/16/2014 2:58:54 AMI'm only a math minor, so Multivariable Calculus II, Differential Equations, Infinite Series and Limits and such class, and Advanced Linear Algebra are sorta the farthest I've gone.

2 RepliesDOES FAILING A SEMESTER THEN DROPPING THE CLASS COUNT?

2 RepliesEdited by A Kinky Milkman: 3/16/2014 3:02:52 AMCurrently in Calc III - Math major in progress. I think it should be everyone's goal to reach Calc I of any track (Academic/Honors/AP) by the end of their senior year of high school, but I'm aware that: A) Math is tough for the majority of people out there B) Realistically, you won't use much higher math in life than Advanced Algebra, or Precalculus if you really push boundaries C) The only people who need to reach Calc I or higher are people in the STEM fields With that in mind, although I recommended everyone reaches Calc I, realistically everyone needs Advanced Algebra skills at most. EDIT: Should also note that I'm also in an Introductory Philosophical Logic Class, since logic is so closely tied with math.

5 RepliesCalc III, differential equations, applied linear algebra, physics II, statics/dynamics...they're all about the same level. I've only taken application courses, never any proof or theory classes. Next semester I'm taking a class where you're given 10 problems to solve and that's all you do for the entire semester, so that should be fun.
