[TL;DR: Would a relationship be better with or without love?]
I've begun to study Plato's dialogue of Phaedrus. It is primarily about conducting proper rhetoric but offers a compelling view on love and relationships. Love in this context being the emotional surges and romantic attachment an individual places on another.
While this line of thought isn't new to the world I thought I would gather the opinions of the forum on this matter. Is it better to found a relationship based purely on friendship or should one follow the urges of passion? Each of these choices have been argued to be more important than the other throughout Human history.
I ask you to choose what would be the better option if one had to choose.
