ITT: TitanFall is Pretty Damn Good

I wanted to start a new thread now that TitanFall is officially out. So far, I've been quite impressed with pretty much every aspect of the game except the campaign, which feels really half-assed/tacked on. It's essentially just voice-overs combined with random "events" in existing multiplayer maps. Half the time the voices are drowned out by gunfire and explosions (or people on your team chatting), and it's incredibly difficult to follow what is actually going on. At the very most, it's a nice little tour of all the maps in the game, so that's cool, but it's no "campaign." Don't get me wrong, I don't care that there's no single-player story, but if you're going to label something a "campaign" it should actually be that. Not normal multiplayer games with some added voiceovers. Anyways, everything else is just as awesome as the beta. I'm really impressed with how consistent the framerate is in spite of this game *almost* being run at 1080p. Here's hoping future developers will be able to figure out how to further optimize the Xbox One's hardware to start running all games at 1080 instead of weird resolutions that are between 720p and 1080p. Ultimately though, the resolution doesn't matter as this game plays incredibly well, and is fun as hell. The maps are all fantastic, and quite large. At the very least, there is a TON of verticality to the maps, and the addition of zip-lines is pretty cool, and something I'll have to learn to take advantage of. I was actually disappointed when I found that the three titans from the beta were the only options in the final game, but now I've found them to be incredibly balanced. I still hope that there will be more titans in the future, but right now the three that are there work well together. That said, I still find that being out of a titan is more fun than being in one. I have one bit of advice for new players: as soon as you can, ditch the invisibility, and add stim and the extended parkour kit to your loadout. Stim completely changes how you approach the various maps, as it practically doubles your jump distance and movement speed, while rapidly healing you. Maps like Angel City are perfect for stim use, as with a single well-used stim, you can literally cross from one side of the map to the other in 30 seconds or less. It's especially helpful in hardpoint matches where you have to hold objectives. Invisibility can still be handy, and I usually have one loadout that has it, but it's just not effective enough in my opinion. Anyways those are just a few of my thoughts on TitanFall. In short, it's an absolute blast, which is being echoed by game critics and players everywhere. If you've been waiting to get an Xbox One, I think now is the time to buy. TitanFall should hold you over quite well until Destiny is released. :D
