I brought up to my family today how the anti-gay bill in Arizona was vetoed by the governor and how it was broadly written to allow businesses to reject gay customers for their homosexuality. Their following comments were:
-I can understand why they would want the bill, I wouldn't want to go to a restaurant with my five year old child and see two gay people making out and have those gay people sue the restaurant for asking them to stop and leave
-I'm fine and tolerant of gay people but they can't kiss or do anything near me because that's not natural and it's disgusting and shouldn't be around publicly
-Gay parents are not anywhere as suitable parents as a male and a female and their children will just be gay and society will die out since not everyone can make kids for all the gay people
-If gay people are still around it shows how it's a genetic disorder like Down's Syndrome since gay people can't reproduce
-The only way a business would know people are gay is if they are flat out making out in it, which is the only reason they would be kicked out
-Gay people are much more known for being slutty and for making out in public, there was this gay pride festival at an amusement park near us and they were groping each other and making out all over there
-Gay people are straight people who choose to be gay
-Gay people just want another reason to sue everyone and so they don't want this bill passed
Am I wrong to be very shocked by their responses? They keep accusing me of not being open minded to their argument, despite the fact that I'm a straight dude who was anti-gay until I actually met gay people and became friends with them. I want to make sure I'm not crazy to think they are very wrong

12 RepliesI mean I don't really care if you're gay or not. But just saying if everyone was gay, there wouldn't be humans in 100 years. So I wouldn't say that behavior is really self sustaining, or natural.
