I heard some bad comments about horrendous AI, extremely linear level design, token tools for token puzzles, downgrade in sound detection and the fact that the Master Thief is apparently just another bloke on another episode of Hoarders.

I can confirm that the audio is horrendously glitched on the PS3 version.

The levels are anything BUT linear, those people are talking out of their asses on that one. It is a blend of Dishonored and Deus Ex with the exploration. The AI does what it needs to, and you can customize the difficulty to your liking, thus making them smarter or dumber.

I know that the city is open but what about the story missions? The one critic I remember specifically said he was able to hide in the same cupboard six times to escape from a guard and the guard always reacted in shock and never tried to open the cupboard once the player hid in it.

I haven't seen really anything that bad. What about the story missions? The environment is really hard to navigate at times when you need to get from point A to B. Each area has to be loaded in, and the only way you get to them is either through windows or gates. It can be very confusing where exactly you need to go, and how you get there. It should have giving you more freedom to scale the buildings and get there your own way.
