Merging Bungie and Valentine's Day, I ask about the relationship between Master Chief and Cortana. They started out as co-workers, and as they fought on, the relationship developed. It is hinted in Halo 4 that it was something akin to love. But what was it? If Cortana were made real, would Chief get with her?

2 RepliesEdited by Trevelyan: 2/15/2014 10:12:46 PMI believe Master Chief was very close to Parisa, even the emotions came back when she told him about the picture of the two during the Battle of New Mombasa. Edit: He even promised to marry her. Just read the part of the wiki page I linked. He probably friend-zoned Cortana.

Enough shitposting Charles

He was in romantic love with Margaret Parangosky.

6 RepliesEdited by Son of Chakas: 2/15/2014 10:29:17 PMI want to think of it as a more of a dependent relationship. They don't love each other, but they don't know how to function without the other. Well at leas John doesn't Cortana would be just fine.

8 RepliesI doubt it. Chief has a suppressed sex drive.

Edited by MendicantBill : 2/15/2014 9:47:52 PMIt wasn't romantic love, just the love that two very close friends share. It may have been somewhat romantic on Cortana's end though, it's hard to tell.

Yes I'd say so.
-
Really? A Halo post? Ugh...
-
3 RepliesI'm pretty sure Master Chief can't feel love, but did really care for her. Cortana got friendzoned.

They -blam!-ed like everyday.

4 RepliesHave you seen her chest? Of course

Probably emotionally attached and loved Cortana but not like that
-
Extremely close friends or siblings. That's what I would classify them as.

3 RepliesEdited by Jaaake AU: 2/14/2014 9:10:39 PMDid you know that they based Cortana's behaviour in Halo 4 on a senior designer's mother who had Alzheimer's and had just passed away? Apparently a lot of people at 343i disagreed with the approach, but because he was so high up he was able to push it. Crazy.

Chief is the most powerful virgin of all time. Of course it was love.
-
14 Repliesno. it's love, but it's certainly not romantic love. it's not even a sibling love either. halo 4 develops it into something else entirely, and for that reason it's absolutely brilliant, in my opinion. /flamesuit

2 RepliesEdited by Magical Robot: 2/15/2014 1:32:20 AMIt was seen in halo 2 and 3 that they had a close bond. Chief was raised to be a soldier and nothing else, much of his humanity is suppressed by his training. Cortana being an AI is oddly his soul in a way, she was in ways more human than he was, and is as much a part of him as his armor, training and augmentations. Not exactly romance, but they needed each other. (Bungie pulled it off too, 343 just added to it)

2 RepliesChief lives, breathes, and feels war. He doesn't know what "love" is.

2 RepliesFrom my understanding Spartan's aren't capable of sexual arousal, but she is basically a copy of Dr. Halsey who is seen as a mother by the Spartans, and has worked about as close as a physically possible to John for almost a decade making her simultaneously his mother figure and somewhat of a 'sister'.
-
Not exactly, no. It's difficult to describe their relationship, but it worked.

-
11 RepliesOf course that's the idea 343 has in mind.

1 ReplyNo, but 343 begs to differ.
