Ironically combat magic is pretty lame at the end of the game. Illusion is where it's at.

9 RepliesNone. The game sucks.

Warrior. Once you get daedric armor and a dragonbone weapon the game plays itself.

Warrior Magic is underpowered at high levels.

Why not be a Battlemage? It's a mix of both.

Combat magic is pretty good at the start but quickly starts getting less useful, whereas melee weapons just get more useful as you upgrade them.

Mage master race

Mage. Much more fun and unique.

1 ReplyEdited by wWBENDELNATORWw: 1/3/2014 9:48:38 PMMage is more of a challenge and can be quite fun. But beatings the hell out of People is also very fun! Maybe do a mixture of both like a battle Mage. I like a necromancer/death knight build. Using primarily conjuration spells and a mace.

I played as a warrior (sword, shield, heavy armor kind) with some restoration for health (which eventually became unnecessary) and smithing/enchanting (the reasons why restoration became unnecessary). It's fun. Not quite as flashy as some of the high level spells, but being right in the middle of combat is cool. Now I'm trying to level up a Mage character. It's a fair amount harder at early levels, because they take forever to level up, and it's not really possible to improve your main weapons (spells) until you level the tree up enough. I've been using fire bolt for a long time now. But I hope it will get better at higher levels, because some of these spells seem really cool or useful. And, no matter what class you are, I recommend you head to this one bandit cave near Whiterun. You'll know it because it starts with a wood fort, and ends with a bunch of poachers and a dead mammoth. There's a transmute spell in there that let's you turn iron ore to silver an silver ore to gold. It's a lot of spell power, but a pretty cool way to make money

1 ReplyPlaying mage can get Hella tedious because all the mage trees take so damn long to level up.
-
I made my character a hybrid. I used mostly fireball spells and a 1 handed sword. Then I just trained blacksmithing to 100 and made Daedric weapons and armor for myself with +manaregen enchantments.

Stealth archer master race.
-
Mage is more fun. Harder, but more fun.
-
Mage, in my opinion, is more fun to play as. But I usually go spellsword because you get the best of both.
-
Mage on Novice. Warrior on Adept+

if you want to be destroyed early/mid game but absolutely -blam!- everything after level 50 choose pure destruction mage if you want to be able to survive more than two hits at a time choose warrior do what i did and be a battle mage, wear full light armour. Farm enchanting till you get lvl 100 enchant enchant armour pieces to reduce mana consumption by 20% enchant 5 different armour pieces with this so you get -100% mana consumption spam destruction spells all day err day
-
Battlemage. A warrior that can use spells. If you want one, here goes. Warrior is very easy to level up. However, despite being difficult to level, a Mage character will be ridiculously overpowered by the mid game. Your choice.

1 ReplyEdited by Hawk: 1/3/2014 4:47:14 AMI do both. Sword in one hand, spell in the other. Bow for when I need to be stealthy.
-
Spellsword...magics in one hand, and then the sword in the other, you get the best of both worlds, especially if using Destruction magic.
-
Master Spells are so much fun to use in the middle of packed villages, just save right before. I play as a mage and mastered the bow, stealth, magic, and almost everything else it allowed me to.

1 ReplyWarrior, swords are universally more fun to use than spells.
