What makes Halo nerdy and CoD "cool" ?
I'm wondering what makes Halo nerdy and epic suck, and why CoD is apparently "cool". If you play Halo all day, you're fat, ugly, and have no friends, while if you play CoD all day, you're instantly a pimp and sip champagne in the back of class, with your arms around the two hottest chicks in the school.

Cod isn't cool, it's overused, boring, and plastic feeling. The games that have better gunplay, would be the newer battlefields, and perhaps Dayz.

I don't understand why these shitass cod players just criticise other games.The ones who play cod are smelly and fat or whatever shit you told.I guess these guys r so bored of the game that you go on random game page and SHIT!!!! Just get a -blam!-ing life.

Edited by Ockeghem: 12/24/2013 5:29:03 PMA lot of people are talking about gameplay differences. I have barely ever played CoD, and I only ever seriously did MP with Halo on Halo 2. I am sure some of the differences are gameplay. I can still deliciously remember just blowing up noobs who didnt understand how to take down a shield quickly. I think the real difference is more what CubeK was saying at the end of his comment. Halo, even the MP (and with Halo 4 ESPECIALLY the MP, is tied up in a deep Sci-Fi universe. Modern military is waaaay more popular with most of the US demographic, and is seen as cool / bad ass. Sci-fi, though, is traditionally 'nerdy/geeky' - though that has changed some, more than I ever thought it would, over the last few years.

4 RepliesCall of Duty is a simplistic game. Its easy to grasp the core concepts and its even easier to play. On top of that, just about anyone can pick up a controller and start getting pretty good at Call of Duty after a couple days with the game. With Halo it takes months to become a truly solid player. CoD is just much more casual friendly than Halo is. On top of that, military shooters' market is just much greater than a high sci-fi shooter could ever be.

I never heard anyone label Halo nerdy, except by people who think games all together - including CoD - are nerdy. Though generally, people who play CoD only play CoD so that's all they talk about if they ever talk about video games.

1 ReplyThere are a few reasons why I think halo is better: 1. It takes a HELL, AND I MEAN A HELL, of a lot more skill to play halo. 2.There isn't any of the 360 quick-scope head-shot shit. 3. There are unique weapons that you can use to your advantage. 4.There is rarely any of the annoying spoiled 7 year olds who play halo.

It's probably a stereotype for the majority of people who play each. There are plenty of "dude bros" that I went to school with who were hyped for Halo just as much as CoD.

3 RepliesHalo games have decent stories and lore within their games. CoD is just a run and gun game. Halo is nerdy because we enjoy more than just the simple mechanics. We play for more than just the multiplayer. We invest ourselves in the stories, making it more enjoyable. There's nothing wrong with nerdy, they're just missing out.

3 RepliesCoD is more realistic. It's gritty and has reflects the post-9/11 themes and worldviews. That's not to say CoD is realistic or a solid piece of geopolitical commentary; it's just more accessible than 2552. Halo has aliens and laser guns. 343i tried to make it more like CoD by trying to purge it of colorful aliens and a genuine, video-gamey fun. This was a mistake.
