Reason i never took interest in the Halo books was, to me the story comes from the games themselves
Only way Id feel any differently is if it were actually written by a member of the bungie staff, and over seen by the lead game desighner.

I see your point, and a few of the books did indeed come from the games, however a LOT of the Halo books we fan fiction that had nothing to do with the storyline we saw in the game. For me it made the whole Halo universe bigger and much more diverse. You should try them. Their pretty good.
