Look at all these Halo Waypoint mods that showed up in a swarm, dear god. This reminds me of the time Foman posted on Waypoint and a mod banned him. Waypoint's biggest problems with moderation are: 1. A lack of control or restraint on mod's powers. 2. Lack of admin support in moderation (or equally bad admin mods who get mad). 3. No way to message admins on site, the process is as tedious and complicated as possible to ensure anyone banned for any reason stays banned (even if it is a BS ban). 4. People flaming/harassing anti-343i/Halo 4 posts don't get banned normally, people who try and fight back are immediately banned. 5. Bans lasting 500 years

Halo is a ship sinking at the rate of Call of Duty now, "Spartan Assault" is a nod to that. When you have a game Dev who does nothing but pump out titles at the whim of a company, doesn't put heart into the story or more importantly the community of players surrounding it, there is nothing left. The 343i forums are evidence to that. Why people even care to compare Bungie and 343 is beyond me. 343 is to Halo what Infinity Ward is to COD. Edit: Don't get me wrong, I still love Halo and will continue to play it in the future. It's still my favorite multiplayer but it's not nearly what it used to be. Look at the game population if you disagree.

Ok, I'm going to make a serious post for once. The reason I dislike halo waypoint is not because I got banned, (all the bans I got were warranted, lol.)it's because the community and the moderators take themselves way too seriously and enforce way too many rules. While this has the benefit of swiftly getting rid of trolls, they also discourage other potential users from posting. Because of this, you do not get to hear many opinions, or diversity. People get banned for making "unconstructive posts" such as "lol" or "Dude, you are so wrong.", etc. It just feels oppressive. Yes I know it's their website, their rules. But is it really in the best interest of 343 to have such a strict website with banhappy moderators? One of the reasons I love bungie.net is because Achronos and the other admins let us have more free reign and let us develop our own culture. Sometimes, they even join in on some of the shenanigans that we partake in. Because of this, people fall in love with them and their website and they keep coming back. That's exactly what you want your fans to do, because not only will you get feedback from them, but they'll also tell all their friends about bungie's games. Bungie has a reputation for fun. Waypoint has a reputation for oppression. I think this is sad, because I think the new halo series has a lot of potential, but I don't feel like I can voice my opinion on the official forums without getting banned making the vague "unconstuctive post".

I got permanently banned once for purposely misleading the community with information given to me by a Microsoft Support employee. I totally see how that was my fault. Then I got unbanned and continued to post a bit more but eventually told one of the mods to ban me because I couldn't stand some of the people on there. I'm normally a very tolerant person but there are some stupid -blam!-ing people posting on Waypoint. They're not all bad, some people on there have some really clever ideas and comments for 343 to use as good solid feedback. Anyone who's been there for a while might remember Time Glitch's thread on Custom Games in Halo 4 and how they were everything but customizable. The thread got over 200 pages worth of replies if I remember it correctly but none of the feedback was taken seriously. I believe BS Angel even posted on there a couple of times saying that the feedback is being counted and used but six months later nothing had happened and Time Glitch gave up. I think the last thing I saw him say on those Forums was basically that 343 can burn in hell, which got him permabanned. Why bother posting your opinions and feedback on Waypoint? Opinions are mostly blocked out and shunned by people and feedback is just blatantly ignored even when it's agreed with by a large quantity of the forum. I'm not saying all the mods on Waypoint are terrible, I've spoke to a couple of them and I've even had Snickerdoodle's help when I was permabanned (unjustly) the first time but Waypoint isn't really about Halo anymore. It's more about oversensitive users stroking themselves to the thought of reporting anyone who thinks 343 failed to live up to the expectations of many, constructive or otherwise.

Apparently some poor lost soul on Waypoint linked to this discussion and got banned. It just goes to show that the mods there are just terrible and should be axed, I may be banned for 245 years from Waypoint but the mods won't stop me from voicing my disdain for their arrogance and incompetence. Keep up the great work as always Bungie. At least you know how to hire mods that are competent with a sense of humor.

(disregarding people who spam NSFW content, etc) Banning people because they aren't posting like a "constructive community member" is retarded. This is what is wrong with Halo Waypoint right here because anyone can be made into a non-constructive community member. I can understand if you want to hold your forum to a higher standard but Halo Waypoint is no where near the quality and maturity of something like Neogaf. The problem is the Waypoint mods do not enforce the rules equally and constantly contradict themselves. Someone makes a joke then another user makes a similar joke and gets banned. Someone makes a stupid thread like the "tornado gun" while another user makes a dumb thread and gets Perma banned. There is so much mod bias especially against people who say negative things about 343i/Halo 4. I have had people call me loser and tell me to shut up then I responded back and I got banned for 14 days. None of the people flaming me got banned or warned, none of their posts were ever hidden by moderators. The ignorance by some moderators on Waypoint is appalling. If the mods want to be strict they need to act like it otherwise there is no need to ban people for thousands of years for one post they made and deciding that they can never be good community members. If any mod ever did something that stupid on here Achronos would have them kicked out probably within days. As of now, I don't think any of you so called moderators should have the power to perma ban users, you all clearly show you use it too liberally with little consideration. I guess another issue is BS Angel doesn't seem to care as much as Achronos or DeeJ in interacting with the community. They also encourage people to openly speak about problems with Bungie.net and Bungie games, unlike Waypoint. As it stand now Waypoint is a forum filled with immaturity that is encouraged by bias mod practices and inconsistent moderation which makes most of the mods look like terrible/ignorant people. I am sure many of them aren't bad people but the way they moderate the forums is absolute terrible and they need to have the patience and really the drive to care about enforcing the rules to make Waypoint a better and more enjoyable place, not banning people you disagree with or banning people for trivial things that you don't ban other people for.
