For me my main points of contention are
1. Upgrades should be purely cosmetic, anything that is game changing in anyway should be available to everyone from the start.
2. Infinity slayer, if not completely removed it should be relegated to a lesser playlist. Power weapons and power ups should be placed at specific spots around the map like always, not rewarded for a couple kills at random like some stupid cod killstreak. It was a fun gametype for a bit, but not Halo at it's core.
I also wouldn't mind a classic halo playlist with no armor abilities either. What would bring you back?

If 343 decides it wants to be an arena shooter again instead of another modern shooter clone, I might consider getting it.

Start over. Completely and totally throwing out Halo 4 and everything else 343i has done so far. Pick up where Halo 3 left off and start over from there and keep true to canon and what makes Halo, Halo, this time. That's the only way to get me to stick around or get any future Halos. That's the only thing that'd make me consider getting any more of the garbage made by 343i. Otherwise, I'll just keep doing what I've been doing, watching the the series go down the toilet and pointing out all of 343i's bullshit and failures.

Being to play as your own spartan in the campaign I liked that In reach.

I actually enjoyed Halo 4, wasn't my favorite Halo, but I still liked it. I will definitely be getting the next Halo game

I can't say definitively, to be honest. If I do find the game personally distasteful though, I will be purchasing the game used the day after release, and I think others should follow if they have resembling feelings. It's still a Halo game, so I still want to play it, but I'm not going to support a developer who shits all over the game I love, so I'll be picking up the game used so that my decision has no impact on the market and the statistics they'll use against me, saying that sales actually mean something in terms of quality. Again, if you feel the same way I do, buy the game used the day after during the later day so there are used versions in stock. Do NOT support the developers of a game you do not like or agree with. There are ways to go about things without giving into supporting something you most likely won't like, or being completely ignorant.

Heavy EU integration from the Forerunner Saga. Avoid the Kilo-5 Trilogy as much as possible. 2. Tell a story that is self sufficient. If EU material is used, then reference it in the game itself so that the lowest common denominator can understand. EU materials should always be supplementary, but it is good when they are used. Don't do it for basic concepts such as how the Halo rings work, such dialogue always made me cringe in Halo 3 when Miranda repeatedly stated the function of the rings twice in that campaign. Halo 2 is a good example. Halo First Strike introduced the Brutes, Prophets and Tarturus, and foreshadowed the events of Halo 2. With an exception to understand how the Chief got back to Earth, you did not need to read First Strike to understand Halo 2's plot. 3. Longer campaign than Halo 4 by at least 33%. 4. No more UNSC stupidity, Covenant incompetence and pathetically weak Covenant and Promethean soldiers. Respect that franchise Bungie made and avoid firefights in cutscenes that involve 1hk Elites or even worse, 1hk Prometheans. 5. Be creative and original, and improve on what made Halo great. Stuff like weapon customization and sprint can stay for the Campaign, but it would be better if this was kept out of MP. I would love a system where you could modify vehicles in a sandbox environment that would impact gameplay and strategy. 6. Don't copy Call of Duty, PLEASE. 7. More open campaign. This does not mean arbitrarily large canyons aka AotCR, but something similar to the Silent Cartographer. Do it more than once, so it doesn't last just 10-15% of the Campaign's length. 8. Look at the small things and the attention to detail. Weapons disappeared too quickly in Halo 4; the old strategies we used in the Bungie games could not be repeated because weapon despawning was completely random. Next gen consoles should be able to handle this with ease. 9. Better checkpoint system; this has sucked since Halo 3. No point in me killing an entire company of Covenant three times just because I get stuck/randomly killed at the very end of the battle. 10. Improve the Covenant AI, it sucked in Halo 4. 11. Terminals should not tell the story but simply give new background information, like Halo CEA did. The Terminals in Halo CEA and 4 were of good quality. However, Halo 4's terminals weren't even in the game itself, and they were too deeply connected into Halo 4's plot. We should not have to see the Terminals or read the books to understand the story. 12. I liked how Halo CEA looked, it was quite beautiful at points. Halo 4 got boring due to the repetition of grey and orange architecture. Nice and colorful art direction, please. 13. Prometheans should cooperate more often. 14. While Lasky and Del Rio were okay/good characters, Palmer is absolutely retarded. She isn't funny, she just comes off as arrogant and doesn't wear her helmet in certain combat situations. Improve her. 15. Halo 4's voice acting was fine, keep it that way. 16. Improve the villain. The Didact had a lot of potential but he only had a physical presence in two sections of the Campaign. 17. The UNSC is still incredibly weak. Having them face off against Forerunners proper is absolutely retarded. It was already a bit of a stretch in Halo 4, don't go all the way. Halo's story will be dead if a civilization whose primary infantry armament involves 1960s 7.62 NATO can fight against a civilization that made the Halo rings. 18. Moderate use of CGI cutscenes only. They look nice, but they should not be used when a dynamic cutscene will do. 19. Be creative with the weapons; the only two good Promethean weapons were the Scattershot and the Incineration Cannon; the rest were generic pew pew pew guns that are basically similar to their UNSC counterparts. Bring back the Reach grenade launcher. 20. Have a larger vehicle and weapon set, while balancing these aspects. 21. Dual wielding please, but with better balance than the Halo 2 and 3 versions. 22. Avoid dumb weapon and vehicle designs. Try creating something that military planners won't facepalm when viewing e.g. the Hornet and the Scorpion are terribly designed. 23. Don't needlessly retcon art designs or game/EU materials. 24. Firefight>>>>>>>>>Spartan Ops

The only thing really wrong with halo 4 is the campaign and the non return of dual wield thats it the multiplayer is excellent idk why people dont like it.

I gotta say the return of dual wield would be nice. Maybe keep make some new gametypes and a few new armors and maybe the storyline could be more exciting and flow better because the story for halo 4 seemed less thought out than all the others. maybe the flood has returned idk i just would like the innovations to proceed in the multiplayer the story or campaign and the armors. Just to help the flow of everything so its play time is enjoyed because halo 4 got kinda old quicker than the rest
