Battlefront 3 - First Person or Third Person?
I had a conversation about Battlefront 3 with some friends the other day. Every single one of them insisted that BF3 should be 3rd person by default, pointing out that 1 and 2 were. Excluding vehicles, I totally disagree.
I understand the nostalgia factor. I played BF1 and 2 a lot when I was a kid. Part of me yearns to relive that, but I can't imagine a Battlefield-esque multiplayer shooter in 3rd person- I just don't see it working.
Sure, you could just switch back and forth between 3rd and 1st person, but they can't both be equal- one will inevitably be better because the game was [i]built[/i] to be played that way.
What do you guys think?

I think we've had our fun with 3rd person, and now we need to accept the challenges of 1st.

Battlefront is a 3rd person game period. I don't want Battlefield Star Wars Edition.

Both, like the other ones. There was an option for 3rd person in the settings as well as 1st person.

I am usually a 1st person guy. I prefer 1st person over 3rd. But I grew up with Battlefront bring in 3rd person and I would hate to play it on 1st person. I really hope they make it a 3rd person game

It doesn't matter as long as you can have both.

I really wouldn't care but 3rd person allows you to see around corners and have a wider field of view. I prefer a FPS view but honestly it doesn't matter that much to me.

Clearly, I'm the only one in the Universe who doesn't think it should be in 3rd person, so I'm going to leave while I still have my dignity.

First person, but everything needs to be more detailed. In the first two games, first person views of weapons and the insides (kind of) of vehicles looked like crap. Even compared to other first person shooters of its time.

I've always played it in first person, but I can't honestly say it matters to me what it is by default. As long as I can change it, I'm fine either way.

Its not a sequel its a reboot so it'll just be Battlefront. I just want the same viewpoint as BF3 and I hope they use features from Battlefront IV and V

To balance it out it really should be all from a single perspective rather than switching it out, but I think having an option in custom games or private matches to either force one or the other would be AWESOME. It'd be such a step backward to offer the level of control from Battlefront 2. We control third person games differently, just look how cover systems populate every game on market. If the game moves that route, I think they'd find an incredibly difficult time balancing vehicle vs. player combat. It is partly the reason you don't see vehicles in most third person shooters as they would simply be too dominate. So, honestly, unless they solve that problem, I think we'll see the game as an FPS where there can exist a better precision element for players to eliminate vehicles.

Edited by McRibbitt: 11/24/2013 10:12:01 PMWell, Battlefront 2 allowed you to play in both 1st and 3rd person, so HOPEFULLY it'll have both, because I enjoyed switching between the 2 different viewing modes. But I would be fine if Battlefront 3 was just first person or just third person.
