• Holy crap this actually worked although my account here on B.net was linked to an expired tag that Ive never used on the 360. I just recovered the old GT on the 360, changed its WLID then signed in to my current GT and changed the WLID on that into that of my old GT. My current GT is now showing up in my B.net profile but it says that I havent played any Halo 3 games on it but I know why it is that way. I changed the name of my current GT while messing with the WLID´s so its going to update as soon as B.net has retrieved the correct data from xbl which usually takes a day or two. Edit: It took xbl/xbox.com and B.net two days to sync and everything is now working again. My new GT with its new name is now showing up like it should and the service record is up to date. •
Posted by: lysol eater In step five you need to have the password to your WLID. I don't have this and when I try to get it, it says to send the instructions to changing it to my email address, well the email address linked with my Gamertag is my dads, and he forgot the password so I can't get the email to change the WLID password. Anybody have suggestions?
If you are having trouble recovering your Windows Live ID and you have already tried sending an email confirmation or answering your security question, go here. Simply fill out everything you possibly can. In the last field where it asks for additional comments, make sure to explain as much as you can and decribe this particular situation in the most detail possible. You will receive a reply from a customer support representative within the first 24 hours after you submit the request. If you verify enough information, then they will send you a password reset link option and you just have to follow the steps from there. As a reminder, it is suggested to write down your reference number so that you may provide it later on if necessary. [Edited on 03.10.2008 6:54 PM PDT]

You will have to explain the situation as well as asked a few questions for confirmation of identity. You had to create one to sign up for Bungie.Net.

 •
Posted by: Varanos Hopefully someone can help me with my problem. I read over the original post and couldn't tell how it would pan out. With the original Xbox I had my normal email linked to it (lets call it oldemail@hotmail.com), but when the 360 released and I wanted to set up the gamercard on Xbox.com they wouldn't let me use oldemail@hotmail.com. So I created "newemail@hotmail.com." The only thing I use newemail@hotmail.com for is my gamertag. note: oldemail@hotmail.com was associated with the Bnet name of Varanos7 and newemail@hotmail.com is associated with the Bnet name of Varanos. Just wanted to make it clear that both emails have a bungie account. I am 19 and it says I have a child account, but I know that I can "upgrade" to an adult account. What I want to know is, can I switch back to oldemail@hotmail.com without harming my Bungie account? Then afterwords upgrade my child account. I'm guessing if it works, it will switch me back to my account name of Varanos7, but that is the least of my concerns. I just want everything to continue to be linked, so I can continue using the Halo 3 features. If anyone knows or has done this please let me know. Thanks.
Well I successfully switched my Windows Live ID and it worked just fine. Now I just need to get my own credit card so I can upgrade my account.

 •
Posted by: We are JewBacca I have a strange problem. my gamer tag is linked to my bungie profile but recently all my stats disappeared off my profile. In fact it says that I haven't even played Halo 3 yet online, but I have!. The only thing that I did was change my WLID email address to a current email I use. I've emailed everyone and called everyone with windows and bungie and xbox but customer service lines aren't able to help since they just read some guide on the website. So please can I get a helpful response? :[
Just wait a few days. The information must go through the 'new' WLID, since you changed your email.
Posted by: WhitePow3Rangr I'm having some problems where it is not showing my halo 3 service record... could this be the problem... i recently created the account and have been playing on live but bungie.net still says i havn't played online... i have seen other users with this problem if you want proof that i have played online go here to my other account (which my bro was using at the time) and see the game http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=285227303&player=KINGAWA
Yes, this is most likely the problem. As said above, just wait a few days; the site will update.

 • From what it sounds like you can link your two WLID (as long as you didnt close your old one) so when you sign in with 1 WLID you get to access both WLIDs. You do that by going to settings, account information, link WLID.
Posted by: x Foman123 x
Posted by: stolenova Okay, I need to know if I'm totally screwed here! I created this Bungie.net account (stolenova) but when the process of linking to my XBox gamertag came about, I entered the wrong one. My gamertag is "Stolenova1", but I accidentally linked it as just "Stolenova". From what I read up above, it looks like I'll need a new Bungie.net account and a new Windows Live ID, correct? My current Windows Live ID login uses my current e-mail address which is "stolenova@*******.com." I would like it if I didn't have to get a new e-mail address just to login to Bungie.net. If I were to create a new WLID and change the e-mail address to something else, hypothetically should I be able to reattach my e-mail address to the new WLID since it was unassociated from the old WLID? And if that worked, that would mean I wouldn't have to screw around with account settings because "stolenova@*******.com" would be attached to the new WLID as would the XBox Live account(?). Am I making sense? Really all I want to do is change the gamertag and nothing else. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.
I have not yet had occassion to unlink a gamertag, but from the above description it looks like you do indeed need to create a new Bungie.net account, since you cannot unlink a gamertag through your XBox360 that doesn't exist. Fortunately, your account is relatively new. It will be a pain to create a completely different email address solely for BNet, but as long as you are logging into your WLID frequently enough, it will remain alive and you should be just fine.
•
Posted by: I WEAR ITi I Yea i clicked it like a billion times haha. I have another live acct and linked that to bungie a long time ago, its not the process that is confusing me but they just seem to not be connecting up because my gamertag is already established on xbox.com in the acct using the same WLID as my new bungie acct. Thats why i was thinking I might have to wait a day or something. Thanks for the help! Hopefully it kicks in soon.
Yea, I would suggest waiting a day or so. Since the WLID's are the same, the gamertag should link. However, if this does not happen within the next few days; I would suggest doing what JSaysMeh/JSaysNo did. Just create another Live ID, and attempt to link it again.
Posted by: zyonsbimp Whats weird is although it keeps asking me for my gamertag to be linked, if I search for my name I find all my player stats and the pics that I uploaded (killed my mate whilst he was mid jump with a banshee lol), so how the feck does that work. It can obviously find my gamertag and profile whats the probs with linking the two??????? Its annoying me now
I completely understand how it's annoying, it's a stupid system in my opinion; but it works. I'm continuing looking into this type of issue; as it seems to be happening to many. Again though, if it doesn't work and you would like it linked as early as possible; just create a new WLID and link the gamertag through there. Since that is what seems to work for the most part.
Posted by: JSaysMeh I remade my Bungie.net account and re-WLIDed my 'tag and it worked! Thanks to Rokit for the help and thanks to CG for the instructions. I must say this place has proven, once again, that Bungie SHOULD rule the world! ALL HAIL! HAIL! HAIL!
No Problem JSaysMeh, I'm always happy to help.
