• Any tips on how to make a make a WLID without a GT or severing a GT from a WLID? I'm sure I missed it in this thread. Haha, found it. And, I completely did it wrong. Now I have to wait 30 days. [Edited on 09.06.2009 8:51 PM PDT]

 • I have a big problem :| The Windows Live ID associated with my GamerTag is so out of date so I decided to update it.The thing is,it's been so long and I can't remember the password.Usually I write everything down we I do something important but it appears that I didn't this time.So I called some dudes and they said they'd reset the password.Good,yes?Nope.Thing is they needed the IP for the WLID and we moved so we don't know it anymore..What the hell do I do!?

 • Just moved the GT from my old account (T45K, account was ImTheRealTASK) to this account. First I had to unlink Swish and Dunk (This WLID's GT) and replace it with T45K. Confusing, but I hope it works. EDIT: IT WORKED I LOVE YOU CRYPTIC [Edited on 07.10.2009 11:14 PM PDT]

 • I just changed my GT and now my bnet profile is all messed up. It shows my old GT which says no games played, and the XBL link also says my old name, but when I click on it it takes me to my new GT. I've played several games after changing my gamertag so it should have updated by now. I think all I can do is wait, but if anyone else knows a solution please post! Thanks!

 • Ok, now I'm confused (again. I'm beginning to see a pattern emerge). The website doesn't wanna accept the fact that I log in with my Windows Live ID. It still tells me that I don't have my xbox live account linked! I never changed my email, and I logged in with that email. The link to the xbox website sends me to a page that I'm already signed in to, and their link sends me to my XBL homepage. So close. What is the final step?

 •
Posted by: JonK118 ok so what steps did you go through to link your gamertags
Sign into Bungie.net and select Link My Gamertag at the top right of the page. It will direct you to xbox.com, where you'll be prompted to create a Xbox Live gamertag. If you already have a gamertag, sign into it on your Xbox 360 dashboard. From the My Xbox section, go to your profile and select Manage Account. From Account Management, select Windows Live ID, Change Windows Live ID and follow the on-screen instructions. Say yes, you do have a WLID to swap. The current email should be provided so enter your password and continue. When it asks for the new information, input the email and password just as if you were signing into your Bungie.net profile, X11 Deadpool.
Posted by: X11 Deadpool What happens if i try to change my windows live ID in the xbox account management but the change WLID is unclickable seriously its color grey and i accidentally removed my password do i still have hope pls reply!!!!!
You might. If you have a child account, you must wait until the date of birth is at an age of at least eighteen years old. You would then have to promote the child account to an adult account. After that, you would be able to change your Windows Live ID. If you have an adult account, then you're out of luck. The only reason you would not be able to change your WLID is if it deleted due to inactivity. Check out this article here for more information.
Posted by: JxTHUG quick question. lets say i do everything right and i get my new gamertag for bnet.... will my new account for bnet have all my achievments? or will i need to earn everything again?
Achievements are associated with your Xbox Live gamertag, not with your Bungie.net account. If you start a new gamertag, you'll have to earn the achievements again. If you associate your current gamertag with another Bungie.net account, you'll still have the achievements you've unlocked. From any area of the Xbox Dashboard, select your gamer profile. 2. Select Account Management. 3. Select Windows Live ID. 4. Select Change Windows Live ID. 5. Follow the steps to change your Windows Live ID. If he entered the incorrect Windows Live ID for his Bungie.net account, he'll have to create a new account with the correct one.

 •
Posted by: Grenadier57 It's been a couple days now, and this random GT is still linked to my B.net account. I have no clue who this is. Also, I can't change my window live ID for my real GT because it keeps saying I can't connect to Xbox Live, for the past week!?. Even though I have been playing MM? fishy. What is going on? I want to link my GT but these two things are stopping me. Another thing, I can't sign in to my original B.net account even though it should have the same Email and PW as my current GT. I was on one day and it just signed me out unexpectedly, can't get back on. The only thing I want my GT to be linked for is so I can post in Optimatch. If I can prove that this GT is mine, can I post in Optimatch, or do I have to wait till sometime this fall for auto delete?
Alright, this is what your current setup looks like. Bungie.net Profile (Grenadier57) --> Windows Live ID 1 <-- Gamertag (qwertyiuso) Bungie.net Profile (ThaGrenadier) --> Windows Live ID 2 <-- Gamertag (ThaGrenadier) If you cannot access your Bungie.net profile (ThaGrenadier), that means you can't access your Windows Live ID. If you did not sign into your Windows Live ID for several months, it may have automatically deleted. If that is the case, there is nothing you can do to get your profile back before it deletes. Also, you could no longer recover your Xbox Live gamertag because the Windows Live ID associated to it was deleted. Having an invalid Windows Live ID would make it impossible for you to change the Windows Live ID associated to your gamertag, but luckily Microsoft is working on a solution to this problem. If you only want to post in the Optimatch forum, you're all set because you do have a gamertag linked to Grenadier57. If you would like to unlink the gamertag from your Bungie.net profile, you must recover it on your Xbox 360 console. From the dashboard, select Recover Gamertag and input qwertyiuso. When it asks for the Windows Live ID associated to the gamertag, put in the email and password just as if you were signing into Grenadier57 on Bungie.net. Once it has been recovered, access Account Management, Windows Live ID, and then Change Windows Live ID. Input the current information and say yes, you have a Windows Live ID to swap. If you need to make an account for this, you may do so here. Input the new information and the gamertag (qwertyuiso) will now be associated to a different WLID. This would allow you to link a different gamertag to your current Bungie.net profile. Please note that doing this would prevent you from contributing in the Optimatch Playlist Discussion forum. If I misunderstood your situation or if you have further questions, please reply. Thanks.
Posted by: strike08 I know currently there is no way to change the e-mail associated with your BNet account, but will there be a way in the future? I recently changed my WLID e-mail to a more used one and thus unlinked my GT from my BNet profile. i would like to re-link it with the new e-mail so I don't lose my posts and join date (a bit petty, yes), hopefully they will have a way in the future.
I am not speaking on behalf of the web team, but I assume Bungie.net will remain the way it is for security purposes. Let's say you go to the library and forget to log out; the next person sits down, sees you signed in to Bungie.net, and goes to the Windows Live ID site which automatically signs you in (now making your email associated to the Windows Live ID visible). That person can use a different computer or have their friend go to the Windows Live ID site and select forgot password. That person would then type in your email, characters, and select send email confirmation to primary email. They would open the email and change your password without having to input the current one. So, they have your Windows Live ID and decide to associate your Bungie.net account to their Windows Live ID. They type in the current information because they have your password and then type in their information. Within ten minutes (the time it takes you to get home), your Bungie.net account is now in their control and there is absolutely nothing you can do to get it back. With that said, it's probably in Bungie's best interest to leave everything the way it is. If the Windows Live ID associated to your Bungie.net account does not have a Microsoft domain, you may be able to change the email address. Go to this site here, sign in, and then select Account Services. Under your name will be the email address and there may or may not be a link to change it. Please note that changing the email address of your Windows Live ID would obviously change your Bungie.net log in. It is recommended that you do not sign into your Windows Live ID for at least eight hours after making the change. If you do, your Windows Live Messenger service may be affected. Also, Achronos may be able to help you change the Windows Live ID associated to your Bungie.net account, but he only does it for special circumstances. I don't think it would hurt to send him a PM.
Posted by: ThePriz3Fight3r Okay. I have a problem. This account (ThePriz3Fight3r) is the account I would like to use from now on. However, I have an old account (PrizeFighter) that has my current gamertag associated with it. The email and WLID linked to this account is not the email I need. I need the email and WLID currently linked with my other account to be linked with this one. Help? I may need to clarify, but PLEASE HELP ME!
Unfortunately, you cannot change the Windows Live ID associated to your Bungie.net profile for security purposes. You can associate your current gamertag to your Bungie.net profile (ThePriz3Fight3r) by accessing your Xbox 360 dashboard and selecting Account Management. From there go to Windows Live ID, Change Windows Live ID, and follow the on-screen instructions. Enter your current information just as if you were signing into your Bungie.net account (PrizeFighter). Select continue and say yes, you have a WLID to swap. When it asks for the new email and password, input the login information just as if you were signing into your Bungie.net account (ThePriz3Fight3r). Your gamertag will then be associated to your new Bungie.net account.
Posted by: Subnovah Thank you Crypticguardian for this post. I must save it. But i'm not sure how :[ *tear*
No problem. You can save this thread by clicking "Save Thread" under the Create New Topic button and above the Pinned Topics on the right side of this page. It will then be located in your Saved Threads here to use for reference.
Posted by: Reykjavik I have been trying to link my gamertag for some time now, and this thread showed me how it was supposed to be possible, but for some reason, When I go to account management, and click windows live ID, I get a message saying that I can't connect to Xbox live, and I should please try again later. It doesn't show my WLID on the right side of my screen, and if I click the option to change my WLID, the same error message reappears, and then it sends me back to the WLID page, where the message appears for the third time. Does anyone know what is causing this? I have tried: recovering my Gamertag, performing maintenence on my hard drive, and plugging my xbox directly into my modem, rather than through a router.
I think I know what's causing this, but you have to answer this question first. Have you been able to recover your Xbox Live gamertag successfully within the past week?
Posted by: Master Solidus Ok heres the legend i guess. Bungie.net Profile - Example 1 Bungie.net Profile - Example 2 WLID - example2@yahoo.com Now with given info. What I want to do is to get my email (example2@yahoo.com) to be linked with "Example 2" instead of being linked with "Example 1". Is there a way to do that?
Your setup is not clear to me. If "example" represents Bungie.net profiles, then no. If "example" represents Xbox Live gamertags, then yes. You can't change the Windows Live ID associated to a Bungie.net account. You can, however, change the Windows Live ID associated to a Xbox Live gamertag. Please describe your situation in more detail. Thanks.
Posted by: AzureNightmare i need help linking my gamertag to bungie. but when i go to xbox.com and sign in it forces me to make a new one instead of signing on to my account ColonialWinter
This one is easy. Sign into your gamertag ColonialWinter on your Xbox 360 console. From the dashboard, go to Account Management and select Windows Live ID, Change Windows Live ID, and then follow the on-screen instructions. Input the current information, select continue, and say yes, you have a Windows Live ID to swap. When it asks you for the new email and password, input the information just as if you were signing into your Bungie.net profile, AzureNightmare. Once that's done, you're all set. The site may take up to 48 hours to update your profile.
Posted by: Fallout Dude, with personal experience, this is definately a bothersome question for employees.
