I don't see why people think H3 had a better story than H4...

Sure, argue all you want about level design and multiplayer, but story wise I thought Halo 4 was the strongest, better than H2 IMO. H3's was rather bland and simple for me.

  • ROFLMAO halo 4s campaign was shit. Linear, bad enemies AI, terrible level design, gay as -blam!- storytelling.

    • Halo 4 the strongest? Sure, if you're like 5 years old. I could go on for years about the terrible story, script and level design. But I'm not going to bother.

      • I'm not a big fan of the "just destroyed the greatest threat to human civilization.. Oh wait here's a BIGGER threat to human civilization" storyline. But that's just me.

      • You people disgust me... Especially this Rogue Helios guy. You said 3's campaign was shit? Really dude? The biggest thing that pissed me off was the "emotion" they gave chief. I know that he's really human and that Cortana meant a lot to him (I got a little misty eyed when she "died") but the fact he went from being a total bad ass with very few words and little to no emotion made him all the more pointless to me. If they ever show his face than there's no point anymore. Bungie built him up as a near indestructible and stone cold mother-blam!-er who watched many of the people who he befriended die during their augmentations, the loss of his squad(s) in combat, and being the last of his generation still in combat. By now it's a damn miracle he's still sane and capable of forming sentences without going on a rampage from what he's seen in combat. 343 took all of that away and said "let's get the players closer to him by making him more emotional and talkative." He should change the color of his armour to pink, put some flowers and kittens on his helmet, and make all of his weapons fire unicorn rainbows because that's what they've turned him into.

Halo 4's story was top quality and a work of art. No one should call it bad, 343 worked hard on it and I think it shows through. Halo has never particularly had a strong story in the past, but Halo 4 has layers to it. It wasn't a simple story. That why I think it was best story so far.

Eh. In halo 3 it felt like I was more of a hero soldier. Halo 4 had some strong dialogue but as far as story goes i didn't like it. It also made me feel like i was more batman, less master chief

          • Halo 1 > H2 > H3 > H4 Halo 4 was too short, and what seemed like a total waste of time. I dont even want to contemplate replaying it because it just wasn't compelling. Halo 3 was alright, not the best because i think the pace is a little messed up at times but i still played it through atleast 5 times.

            • In all Honesty, Halo 3's campaign had more replay value for some reason. Halo 4 was a "experience the campaign once and then get on with it" type game.

              • It didn't - Halo 4's was a lot more personal for me. It seemed like a step towards the books in terms of the style of storytelling. Halo 3 did have that grand, "finish the fight" theme though. And it's level design was much more memorable.

              • people always complain that H4's campaign was short. IT HAD A GREAT STORY! fighting the prometheuns was freaking awesome and the death of cortana was tragic as crap. the multiplayer wasn't as good but it was still worth playing in my opinion. but that's off topic, i think H4's campaign was awesome. The story made it clear of what they had to do, destroy the didact and return to halsey to fix cortana. and the music in the game is sooooo badass and it really gave you the feeling of how dangerous the prometheuns are.

              • Halo 3 had a huge plothole. The Ark was outside the galaxy, and the only way to get there in a reasonable amount of time was to go through the Portal on Earth. Now High Charity was on its way to Earth. So how did it get to the Ark so fast? It's been established that Covenant slip drives are faster than UNSC ones. A jump that might take a month for the UNSC might take two weeks for the Covenant. But if High Charity was going by FTL, then it would have jumped from some point between Halo 05 and Earth to a position outside the galaxy in like, a day. So the only way High Charity could have gotten to the Ark in Halo 3's time frame would have been to go through the Portal. So why didn't the Gravemind take five minutes to drop a few million Flood onto Earth's surface before going through?

                • 343 tried to fit way too much story into the campaign. I am into Halo lore, I was into finding and reading all the terminals, I read the books, but out of the 10 friends that I regularly played Halo with, since the days of 4 way splitscreen CE on my couch, Im the only one. The story was dead to the others, the second they realized they needed to go outside the game to fill in the story. On top of that, the first thing we did was play Leg, 4 man coop ( as tradition ) and were disappointed with the lack of satisfying Coop gameplay. And it didn't help that some of their favorite characters were not in the game, and we were quite disappointed with the new characters.

                  • I didn't care for any of the campaigns, but with Halo 4 I had clear objectives from the start. Sure you have to read the books to understand the story, but I got the objectives of it though. Each objective had a purpose which lead into whatever. With Halo 3 everything you were doing was just random shit until you landed on the Ark. After that your objectives had a purpose. At the point in the game the campaign is almost done.

                  • Halo 4 is made by a different company so I don't see how you can accurately compare the 2 cause halo 3 was made by bungie and halo 4 343

                    • Halo 4 is a one time playthrough game that was very emotional and I thought it was great, but you can't play it over and over and talk about it for decades to come like you ever could with Halo 3.
