Bungie said that even your armor pieces will have skill-trees, do you think it would be fun if the armor helped shape your combat style? Example: Some pieces may offer faster movement speed, stronger melee damage, increased bullet accuracy, ect. And what do think of the idea of having armor pieces that give you special abilities when taking damage, or allow you to have extra space-magic slots to equip at one time? What about an ability that when your health reaches a certain point, your armor activates a short-ranged energy-field that allows your bullets to pierce enemies' armor more efficiently?

I definitely feel that armour should have buffs but only based on things related to your physical being. Weapons should be only effected by their own skill tree. The only correlation between the two could maybe include an increase in accuracy or weapon swap speed. Mainly because those evolve physical use of arms, shoulders etc. Definitely no damage modifier to weapons. Movement speed, stability, shields, flight or even jump height could fall under the armour skill tree. But maybe some sort of status buff? For example luck? Basically you could have a armour buff that increases your rare drop rate? Nothing silly though. They still have to remain rare. How's about absorb bullets like from borderlands2 shields? I always liked that.

5 RepliesWell I like the idea of armor abilities. However I'd like it to be more Buff focused instead of Debuff or damage focused. Weapons will have all the Debuffs and Offensive abilities and warlock will definitely have debuffs. If they were to do Buffs such as movement speed or some sort of Armor boost when your health is low I hope it's very minimal and balanced. I like the idea of all these little things adding up. For example Imagine I had a fire PDW that deals 5 points of damage for 3 seconds per bullet that stacks. I can see close quarter situations where we begin firing at each other but because my weapon is stacking damage over time he brings my health down to say, 20%, but then my armor ability kicks in and keeps me alive just long enough for my fire damage to whittle him down. The idea of making a build like that makes me excited to play the game!
