I dont think i could ever date a pure atheist. It more often than not comes with some awful, bigot packed baggage.

  • By the same token, atheists may not date religious people because it comes with a huge sign saying "I lack intellect."
Doesn't feel good, huh?
I'm an agnostic, so I dont care.
Your baseless assumption being refuted doesn't feel good, huh?
And I dont see how you can classify the vast majority of the earth as unintelligent. Religion doesn't equal theism. The person could simply operate with a code or observe the majesty of the universe. I guess that makes them stupid. Oh wait. it doesnt. The assumption on your part makes you stupid.

  • No, not at all. If you want to believe in a god, go the -blam!- ahead. But don't pretend that your God is real because the bible or Koran says so. Those are legitimately false. Te only god worth believing in is one who has no power. So why would he even need to be worshipped? And yes, I do count the majority of the planet unintelligent (or, more ignorant). If everyone was intelligent, no one would be.

  • As I said, I dont believe. I hope those "if you want to believe..." comments were generalized and aimed at religion in general and not me.
And yes, I do count the majority of the planet unintelligent
Aaand we're done here. This is why I wouldnt date purist atheists. You're as bigoted and asshole-ey as most religious people are delirious.
Aaand we're done here. This is why I wouldnt date purist atheists. You're as bigoted and asshole-ey as most religious people are delirious.
Yeah, definitely. I'm not even purist lol. The majority of the world is ignorant to science-fact, so of course they're going to put they faith in unrealistic deities. And even where people do have access to such science-fact (America), they're too unintelligent to examine and understand the concept provided. and if they are intelligent, then they wouldn't be solely making decisions off of the mental position of "What would Jesus do?"

  • How is it they cannot observe the teachings of jesus and observe scientific evidence? Studies show the majority of catholics in America are open to established theories such as evolution. Calling the majority of the world ignorant and calling them stupid are very different things mind you. The former is true the later is being an asshole.

  • I don't recall calling the majority of the planet stupid (if I did, that isn't what I meant. I'm on mobile and it's been a long day, mind you.) I also seriously doubt that statement about the majority of Catholics being open to evolution. I live in Canada and they don't teach evolution in Christian schools.

  • They dont like the theory. But the I recall the pope making an official statement that said evolution and the bible may coexist and that Catholics are free to believe in both. Those who were willing to embrace scientific evidence did, those who have been raised under he impression that such teachings were falsehood did not. Perhaps the poll was aimed at younger catholics and my memory is fuzzy. Either way, I dont appreciate those who look down on religious people simply for holding a belief contrary to yours. As long as they are not carrying out any activity that affects you and your rights or attempt to shove their faith down your throat then your hating them is idiotic.

  •
They dont like the theory. But the I recall the pope making an official statement that said evolution and the bible may coexist and that Catholics are free to believe in both.
Yes, he did, and that also contradicts with their beliefs. If evolution did occur, there was no Adam and Eve. Without Adam and Eve, where did original sin come from and what's the point of Jesus?
Those who were willing to embrace scientific evidence did, those who have been raised under he impression that such teachings were falsehood did not. Perhaps the poll was aimed at younger catholics and my memory is fuzzy.
Again, evolution is contradictory to the whole point of the bible. Jesus saving us from sin.
Either way, I dont appreciate those who look down on religious people simply for holding a belief contrary to yours. • Exactly how does evolution conflict with sin? What if Adam and Eve was just a fable with a message? What if Adam was a "genetic adam" or the first evolved homo-sapien? What if Adam was a "genetic adam" and represents a lineage of evolving homo sapiens? We inheritted sin because the first 'human' ""adam"" sinned. Jesus saved us from these sins and opened the way to eternal life in the future. Not seeing how it conflicts. Do you hate religious people refuting evolution within their own church's and institutions, or when they take it publicly?

  • Because there was no first homosapien. Because the story of original, if metaphorical, makes in untrue, therefore making Jesus unneeded.

  • Not following your logic at all. Assuming adam and eve were god damn amoebas who brought sin to us I dont see how Jesus becomes unneeded. There are many Christian denominations that view some genesis accounts as mere fables.

  • There was never a single entity that spawned human life, be it an amoeba or homosapien. The point of Jesus is to wipe away original sin. If the genesis story isn't true, then there is no original sin and therefore makes Jesus pointless.

  • Original sin? What bible do you read that says anything about "original sin" Perhaps the lineage of genetic Adams transgressed god. Either way, nothing about Jesus is dependant on Adam and Eve. The Roman Catholics who we're referring to dont even believe what you're saying. We inherited sin. We were thus condemned to death. Jesus relieved us of that guaranteed condemnation and saw our sins forgiven. No where does it even imply that Jesus came to wipe out Adamic sin specifically.

  • We inherited sin from the original sin. Therefore Jesus came to wipe out original sin. Regardless, if you have to make that much a stretch, you shouldn't be believing in it. If the bible is the word of god, why is it wrong?

Its not wrong? It would be metaphoric if you viewed it that way... Not "incorrect." If it was metaphoric, some much more complex occurrence took place and it was simplified for the simple minds of the time through outlandish tales of snakes and fruit. The original sin still came from whatever spawned it, and Jesus came to cleanse us. I dont get how Jesus's only worth would be if the sin came from Adam rather than something more complicated than just adam.

  • Yo yo, implicit atheism = pretty much every atheist ever bitch. All religions are best explained as human-created mythologies, man.
