Since a lot of my work books for college are the same colour, I have decided to print off pictures with the aim of easily determining which book is which.
For history I have a picture of Stalin on my book for work on the Cold War, and a picture of James I for my work book on the Civil War. My religious studies books have Nietzsche (philosophy) and Marx (ethics).
Now, for my unit one politics book I have a hammer and sickle. Would it be inappropriate to put a swastika on my other book?
For the sake of clarity: I didn't actually do it nor was I going to. This is simply a reflection of how decent, or even neutral symbols, can come to take negative or evil connotations. And, more importantly, how easily our perception of something can be altered by terrible atrocities.

Only if it's for German.

Unrelated; but I inadvertently drew a swastika in the back of my book in primary school while just doodling. I was like seven and didn't know (why would I?) what it meant and got shouted at... OT- do what you like. I quite like your system for labelling books.

7 RepliesI'm gonna guess that you are a freshman. Protip: No one would think you cool or edgy. Likely they will just think you are an asshole and move along. Now...I hope you do it. Because aside from that talking to from a councilor (it WILL happen because there are more than a few Jewish professors, and they DO notice that kind of thing), word will get around that you are a Neo--godwinslaw!- and you will NEVER get laid again. Ever. It doesn't even matter if you are or are not. It just matters that the girls will think you are a white trash white supremacist and they will reject you. You will have to wait until you graduate to see a woman naked... So, please, do it. I need a good story to laugh at, and you will do nicely.

"I didn't actually do it nor was I going to." Nothing to see here moving along...

Let's just ignore that people like skinheads and neo-nazis still use the swastika as a symbol of their hatred against non-whites, non-Christians, etc.

Not if your white

While you're at it put a pentagram on for religious studies. Always good for a laugh.

Yo soy alto y muy flaco. Yo tengo jos marrón pelo. Mi ojoses verde. Mu piel es blanco.

When you go to put the swastika, make sure its slightly tilted cause if not, it will be a Hindu (i think Hindu, im not entirely sure) symbol for peace.
-
Sure, knock yourself out

7 RepliesIsn't that symbol just a reversed version of the Indian symbol for peace?
-
Pretty sure you're going to catch a lot of flak for it.

I look forward to you getting called to the principal's office and reprimanded.

As long as you don't mind the judgement of others, by all means I won't (and can't) stop you. But it is a tad inappropriate. So's the hammer and sickle, when you think about it.

Absolutely, fuckhead.

It's certainly bad judgement.

My normal advice in a situation like this would be to "Never go full retard"... But I see I'm too late. - Der

I'd suggest using the Swastika that isn't turned 45 degrees. You can tell every gawker the truth, that it's a symbol of the sun and of peace. If you have the other one though...
Prepare thyself for much squawking
It's historic and communism is politics

2 RepliesIf push comes to shove just claim its in the context of a sign of peace.

10 RepliesI think it's disgusting and rude to Jews and everybody else who suffered under the N@zi regime. Not to mention how they've disgraced the Aryans with their hate and war mongering. Do whatever you want. Personally I hope someone gives you a beating.

If it's easily justifiable then go for it. People are way too easily offended.

Only if you're using it as a buddhist symbol.
