I don't think they're strict enough. How isn't Killzone, Gears of War, Dead Space, Mortal Kombat or Heavy Rain rated AO?

  • Why should they be rated AO/18+?

  • Er because Gears of War people get ripped apart, same in Killzone, in Mortal Kombat you rip f.ucking people's hearts out and eat them, in Dead Space monsters chop people's heads off and stuff, Heavy Rain a Kid get kidnapped, a woman gets a drill in the vagina and somebody uses a pair of scissors to slice their finger off.

  • Dead Space isn't AO? Do they even play the games?

  • It isn't rated AO but it should be. I know right? In the UK it's rated 18+ what gives? Same with Mortal Kombat and the others.

  • I wonder if some sort of hardcore neck beard group took over for whomever used to judge these games. I think Army Men was rated 16+. If it only takes 2 years for them to mature that much, they would be able to walk through a battlefield without caring about what they saw by age 20.

  • What? Wasn't Rise of the Triad, Manhunt and Manhunt 2 originally rated AO for extreme violence, torture, gore and excess blood? Other games were rated AO for sex like Indigo Prophecy's original game. But Manhunt 1 and 2 and Indigo Prophecy got censored to get an M17+ rating although the uncensored versions are available on the internet.

  • I never heard of those games. I'll save us some trouble and just link to the ESRB website.

I believe that Indigo Prophecy was named Fahrenheit in some countries and it's made by Quantic Dream as an open world game which was made before, and by the same people as, the game called Heavy Rain and was about a man who was possess by Satan and had to save the world by killing alien-possessed human beings but in order to repress his Satanic possession he had to try his best to avoid going into a homicidal rage and killing civilians but his realisation that this was what was causing his homicidal tendencies came as a bit of a shock to him and now he's decided to save the world before a full scale Alien invasion takes place. It's confusing and terrible and boring and really, really random and weird. But basically it's rated, well before it got censored, I think it was a PS3 exclusive so the game might or might not be available on the internet in its uncensored state, but whatever, and it's rated as AO for very strong graphic real sex, full nudity and very strong language, sex references and frequent hard drug use (cocaine, heroin, ecstasy etc.). And Manhunt 1 and 2 was whereby a schizophrenic psychopathic serial killer madman escapes from a mental asylum and has to escape the area before the police shoot him in the face so he has to sneak around violently and brutally executing people from behind in order to escape without detection. It got an AO rating because it shows him using pliers to cut a dude's testicles off in the first one and in the second one he uses a chainsaw to cut open a guy's stomach and pull out his liver and intestines whilst he's awake and alive and screaming. It's rated AO for very strong gory violence, gore, extreme graphic torture and excessive blood

  • They sound more familiar, but I'd never played them. Also, would you say there is prolonged scenes of intense violence and gore in Dead Space?

  • Yes. I feel it's strange considering Manhunt and Indigo Prophecy are rated AO but Dead Space isn't. I mean didn't a dude have a drill slowly put through his eyeball out through the back of his head whilst he was screaming and blood, hair, scalp, flesh and brains were splattered everywhere?

  • I know right!? And yet Manhunt gets an AO for... well ripping a guys testicles off with pliers but still... Dead Space, Gears of War, Mortal Kombat, Heavy Rain and Killzone should be rated AO. In Heavy Rain a guy shoves a drill up a woman's vagina

  • Just how desensitized are they? Don't you chop people in half with a chainsaw in Gears of War? That is better than some guy loosing his balls? Somthing isn't right with those people.
