So MGSV looks really awesome, and I want to buy it, but do I have to play all the previous MGS games to understand the story?
I only just realised the retardness of my previous title.

I think you'd want to play 3 and Peace Walker, it can be hard to find Portable Ops but don't worry you're not really missing anything with that, I guess the only reason to play the others before 5 is so you can go "ohhhh" and connect the dots ^_^

MGS3, Portable Ops, and Peacewalker. Then you can play 5, 1, 2 and 4.

MGS2 , 3 + Peace walker should be good . In other words HD Colletion

2 RepliesI used to be a MGS fan and let me tell you, that franchise is so overrated it's not even funny. They need to seriously stop making those games.

6 RepliesYes. Yes you do. Go, play it. Release order. NOW

4 RepliesEdited by A Metroid: 9/9/2013 2:18:11 PMYes, you must play them, one of the greatest game series ever. It really would help though.

From what I understand, you won't totally understand the story of this series even if you play every game 3 times. Apparently it's convoluted as all hell.

Edited by OmegaCircuit: 9/9/2013 2:45:56 PMYou best do. It'll likely be quite hard to follow if you don't play the previous games (mainly 3 and Peace Walker by the looks of it, but playing the others would probably be a good idea too).
