I gotta say the whole damn game is God awful. The only redeeming thing is the graphics.

Campaign: Great art and variety of play. The story was compelling but ended without any sort of foreshadowing. The choice to kill Cortana was questionable and the ending scene with the Nuke explosion was too over the top. Many people were left in a confused state or disappointed over how pretentious it was. The music was AAA but for another Sci-Fi media. I can't help but to feel I was playing Star Wars when chasing Didact to the Composer. Multiplayer: What a blast!... For a month. After that I had my fill of 343's new game modes and wanted to play something more familiar. Without regular Slayer, BTB Objective, Assault, and Team Doubles. Even now some of those still don't exist. What a mishandled mess of what could have been a fantastic experience. Forge: Like that magnificent smile you have after leaving the dentist... and a thug beats you in the face then mugs you in an alley. You have too many missing pieces have a good smile =€) Theater: You bastards! Spartan Ops: Cinematics and story was fine. The gameplay was repetitive. Forget the reused maps, what is ODST FireFight? It was the lack of challenge and iconic campaign style moments we were hopeful for.

I loved it, it had some flaws, but so did every Halo. I'm not going to name any because that would be hypocritical.

Halo 4 had a decent overall game, but: -Negatives- Was very unpolished. Maybe it was just me...but the campaign felt kind of...rushed? Maybe I am just a little uneasy because its the first game without the covenant being a big threat to humanity. No campaign theater. Screamed "this is a set-up game to the next 2" as you play it. Really, Halo 4 only seemed like a my-first-halo game 343 made in order to get situated. The Didact was barely in the game and had a lame QTE to finally stop him. The campaign was not consistent. It would excel in one area then suck in another, and then the next mission could be good at what the last sucked at but suck at what it was good it (it was never an entire package, it only included some parts that didn't make a whole). Stupid stuff was also tacked on. EX: Flying the Pelican. It was cool but way too tacky. This isn't really bad , but if they are going to include flying a pelican after how many halo games....just wish we did more with it. Maybe not terrible, but close to terrible support and community management. Remember all the shit LE got? They need to be A LOT more clear on those kind of things. You expect some small mistakes, but from a big game like Halo you shouldn't have people confused over what the dang Limited Edition includes. 343 tried to help the community but all the fixes came way too late. On top of that, their forums are not very friendly to anyone but die-hard Halo fans that don't give criticism (thus the game can't improve). Spartan Ops was meh, very cool cinematics but repetitive, unchallenging levels. To be honest I didn't really know how it could work. Developing basically a new campaign in-between both games? Way too much manpower for the next Halo game would be taken away. No firefight. Infection was improved with awesome skins, but everything else was ruined. GG custom games. To be far, no idea if they fixed this yet. Multiplayer was not addicting. This is probably me, I think I am actually just getting tired of Halo...and without lots of my friends playing customs I just didn't stay past the first month. This can't just be me having no friends either (lol), because I remember having almost no XBL friends when I first started, and only having to join one random friends lobby to end up in a lobby of 16. Things I really don't like...loadouts (gg big team with PP and Plasma grenades everywhere), ordinance (waaay too many power weapons on the map), and the forerunner sandbox was decent, but not exactly AMAZING. You can tell that the xbox 360 was pushed to its limits for this game. Not really Halo 4's fault though. Cortana's story...disappointing. I mean TBH, I really wasn't that sad when she "died", it was kind of lame. Infinity is made out to be super powerful but it gets dragged around the entire campaign. This isn't huge though since it is going up against forerunner tech, not covenant. -Positive- Campaign wasn't a complete failure, it actually was overall good. It just wan't as memorable as Halo: CE campaign when it first came out, but still okay. Multiplayer had a decent core. Halo 4 was capable of being fixed, unfortunately most people left before it was. Wow I went on a much bigger rant then I thought I would, lol.

Best part:... Worst part: They're making 5&6

My Favorite part was the Didacts speech in the beginning, shit gave me the chills.

Edited by Egerspurge: 9/1/2013 2:43:11 AMBest Parts: N/A Worst Parts: QTE ending, bland soundtrack, only three types of prometheans to fight, shitty cod-esque multiplayer with random ass care packages, took months on end until weapons actually showed up on multiplayer maps, bad fanfic style ending, cortana turning into an annoying ass bitch who I lost all sympathy for, Didact is ugly and is a shitty antagonist, Spops is pointless, eggheads, story is shit without the terminals, and it is specifically stated that cortana can simply be remade so her death means absolutely nothing.

11 RepliesEdited by Madman Mordo: 8/31/2013 6:52:07 PMBest: The thematics and narrative are the best I've seen in a Halo game, only superseded by the masterful storytelling that is ODST. Chief actually has characterisation this time. Chief and Cortana's relationship is actually expanded upon. The visuals are visceral, fresh and crisp. Has multitudes of that Halo "wow" factor. E.g. The floating pillars in Requiem and Shutdown. Some of the best level designs I've seen in a campaign. Overall the campaign is very solid. It's evident 343 spent a lot of time trying to implement the EU into the games. So in a summation, the best part about the game is its campaign. Worst: While not as bad as Reach, the multiplayer has somewhat left a bad taste in my mouth. It does not play like a Halo game at all. Spartan Ops is poorly executed, gameplay wise. It seems like they tried to integrate FireFight into a linear narrative, but it just does not work at all. Side characters are subpar at best. Forge has definitely been neglected.

I thought the campaign was well done. Multiplayer left a lot to be desired. By the time they ironed up the kinks, I and everyone else were already gone (ie it took them like 2 months to get the file browser working ... what the hell).
-
Geez, I could go on for hours about Halo 4. Anyway, the best part was the multiplayer the worst parts were the maps, customs games, spartan ops, and campaign. The worst thing about it is that with a little work they could've been great.

Best part: Worst part: Halo 4

I enjoyed Campaign mode thoroughly it was awesome and definitely took me back to Halo CE epic ness. MP is kinda meh I don't love it and I don't hate it. Pretty fun with friends. SpOps story was cool, gameplay not so much. I'd like to have Firefight back.
-
It was good for the first month. Then Spartan Ops Quickly got old, multiplayer became to easy, and I had no desire to replay the story.
-
4 Repliesi love halo 4, the only thing i would say that i hate about it is the Boltshot and sprint.
-
The gameplay of campaign and multiplayer were both decent. The multiplayer I do have a lot of fun with. Most of my problems are with the campaign, I try to get into the story and atmosphere but it just doesn't seem like proper Halo to me. And I don't like the Didact; it feels like 343i tried to make Chief a super hero, and the Didact a super villian. It's not like 2 armies fighting a sci-fi war anymore, which is the one thing I loved about the other Halo games.

14 RepliesEdited by Progo: 8/31/2013 1:09:43 AMEDIT: LOL at the people defending it. I warned you this was a rant, I even used a winky face. How much more of a hint can I give you? You really want to hear my rant? Okay! ;) Halo 4: Completely screw around with the weapon balancing. Give every newb an insta-kill pistol for close rang. (the boltshot) You can't drive the mammoth. Cortana is a sob-story. The Didact was sweet at first, but he was probably one of the lamest videogame villains ever. make maps that lag severely for players using splitscreen (one of the Halo series best features). No Elites. No Elites. No Elites. No Elites. No Elites. No Elites. Spartan Flops were only fun when you found the RvB messages, only the last few episodes were any good. They broke canon with Dr. Halsey's attitude (in my opinion, I read most of the books she's in and she's nothing like the person she is in H4). Without the Flood to spice things up, the Forerunner creatures got really annoying really fast. Comparing that campaign to H2/H3 is pure blasphemy. Sarah Palmer is annoying. No Sgt. Johnson (I know, not physically possible). The combat is addictive and fast, I'll hand 343i that, but it's not memorable. In the Bungie Halos the balancing was SO PERFECT! No Elites.

I personally thought Halo 4 was pretty cool! The multiplayer is really good and the campaign was interesting. I dig the new armors and guns. Alot of people desagree with me on this but i find that Halo is better than the recent Call of Duty games.

It was a good game, but it was a bad halo. Best: The Forge/Custom Games Worst: The campaign
