*nerdgasm* This would set it apart. Its a feature that's been missing on so many games, especially the ones you've mentioned. Genuinely hope Bungie considers this.
It would make you're weapons legendary and consequently the overall experience moreso.

This would definitely set it apart, but I'm certain that whatever Bungie has in store is going to make this look like kindergarten calculations :) What if the parts themselves are upgradeable?! Then you could find the piece you are looking for on some old beater and then polish it up, or fix the circuitry, or recharge the crystal, or whatever :)

Or modify the barrel to compensate for different types of ammo.. or take blueprints from parts and craft them out of better materials.. mmmmm =]
