As an atheist I think it's kind of pointless other than the benefits you can get. My girlfriend is Christian and she wants to get married obviously, I don't have a problem with it, I'll cooperate. I'm not planning on breaking up with her if we didn't get married, especially once we have children. I do think a lot of people get married too early or without thinking, and I think that's wrong. My girlfriend's brother married his wife months after meeting her. I have a strong feeling that was because he was a strong Christian and rushed the marriage to have sex with her(I believe a lot of christians that believe in abstinence do this). I could be wrong, but that's just a guess. I'm definitely not going to rush my relationship for something like that, but not going to judge people that do. If I believed in abstinence I would probably already be married.
