Why is it so dreaded by so many people here? I didn't have much of a problem with it, and I would like to know why people disliked it.
edit: what weapon did you guys use? I stuck with dual plasma rifles and energy sword.

Hardest level in the whole game. Crank that level to Legendary: Nightmares at night. Crank that level to Mythic: NOPE

I thought it was great. I never really hate any Halo mission.
-
Boring level, too freaking hard, not fun in any way whatsoever.
-
It's just to repetitive for me
-
• Scarce ammo, so you're forced to scavenge often. • Awkward terrain and geometry, so you spend more time navigating and falling down narrow bridges • Ranged Flood pinning you down, and the ones who crawl behind you to turn into tanks. • Sparse cover, so you're stuck peak shooting with inefficient weapons. • Cortana/Gravemind moments slowing you down while you're trying to do all of the above. One perk was that it was a bright Flood level for a change. I still don't think it's bad enough for Top 5 though.
-
I liked it. Completed it on Heroic without too much difficulty. Most people just dont choose the right weapons. Instead of a shotgun or energy sword use a brute shot blade for CQC, never runs out of ammo/energy. And the brute shots grenades are good for taking out ranged forms. The main weapon to have is the carbine, its effective at taking out most flood forms from a distance. Equipment wise, use active camo for that one part you're really struggling with. Primary weapon: carbine Secondary weapon: brute shot Equipment: active camo

I don't like ranged forms and those slow moving chit chats with Gravemind and Cortana were annoying.
-
It's not impossible, but the amount of flood is what worries me.
-
1 Reply- Its confusing because everything looks the same with all the Flood shit everywhere. - The Flood Forms that shoot spikes are on every single wall and are annoying. - Some Checkpoints are bullshit. You might have to clear out the same room more than once if you die. - The Gravemind talks to you every second and makes you slow and vulnerable to the Flood. The only rewarding thing about the level is when you finally get to Cortana and the custscene between Chief and Cortana was executed perfectly.
-
12 RepliesNothing. Wasn't even that difficult on Legendary. The Library is the worst Halo level on Legendary. I think most people can agree on that.
-
Story wise, it was one of the few good Halo 3 levels. Gameplay wise, holy f*ck what is this? The Library gave a lot of room to experiment with playstyles, so I didn't find that boring as I was constantly shifting ways to fight the Flood (and still am). This sh1t was a labyrinthine mess that was only good for trick jumps and glitches. Hell, even Midnight (the most linear, scripted Halo 4 mission) had more tactile choice in terms of mainstream, non glitching gameplay. And not to mention the Gravemind/Cortana moments. God. Why Bungie?
-
2 RepliesThe Halo 3 campaign was terrible.
-
It seems like OP and I are the only ones who didn't find it confusing. Dual plasma rifles and an energy sword backup made the legendary run pretty easy. As to the ranged forms, a couple bursts of the rifles and they go down, you just have to hit em right. The layout really wasn't that bad, it just shows that too many people think linearly. When bungie have us a geometrically different level that could be navigated multiple ways, it would appear that the community laid an egg. I liked it more than most levels, everything else was easy, but Cortana was a good challenge.
-
Let's see, there was a severe limit on Ammo which forced you to constantly scrounge, there wasn't a ton of cover which made those ranged Flood forms fricking annoying, the level itself had some interesting geometry that was difficult to look at and fight on (lots of tiltyness)... that's all off the top of my head.
Incredibly confusing layout/level design Flood ranged forms everywhere
This ^^
Pointless Cortana and Gravemind moments. Pointless Cortana and Gravemind moments everywhere.
And this^^
-
1 ReplyThe only bad thing about it was the ranged forms, but even those aren't too difficult to get rid of. Dual Plasma Rifles tear through everything.

I used to not like it like everyone else. Maybe because I have some unconscious aversion to encountering the Flood, but eventually, I realized Cortana had some of the best visuals of any of the Halo 3 campaign levels and the back and forth between the Gravemind and Cortana and of course the Chief was remarkable. In hindsight, I really like that level. Perhaps not for it's gameplay, but for it's story elements.
-
I didn't dislike it, it was just frustrating sometimes. I didn't even bother playing it on legendary. It was hard enough on normal.
-
I always found "Keyes" from the original to be the most irritating level. Just about every corner in the ship and on the ground seemed to have an infinite spawn of flood or elites around it.
-
Such a pain on legendary mainly due to those things that shoot at you.
-
Edited by JackTheCreeper: 8/5/2013 8:15:04 AMI think that the problem I had with it, and so did many of my friends, was that your gameplay is interrupted so many times by Cortana and the Gravemind. Sure you were invincible during those sequences, but after enough playthroughs I found it annoying.
-
Endless onslaught of Legendary insta-death.
-
idk, you can speed run it in like 4 minutes. It was the only way I was able to do the mythic weekly challenge on that map back in the day.
-
I was able to run through every enemy with right timing and cloak so it was fun for me. Though I am a speedrunner so I guess I don't get an opinion. -flame
