I find that a ton of people actually play games on the lowest difficulty just to get through the story, admittedly, I do this also. If I enjoy the story then I will replay it on the hardest difficulty and beat it again.
Which comes first for you?

Neither. Both need to be strong and exist side-by-side.

Story, u can feel as fluent as u want in a game but if the story is stupid or confusing u either will stop playing it or won't replay it

If it's a MP game (Titanfall, Battlefeild, Ect.) then i care more about the gameplay, if it has a single player with relatable characters (Halo, AC, Ect.) then i care about the story usually. I was disappointed by the Halo 4 MP so i simply have it for the story. And ill keep bying it even if there is no MP

A good story lasts you a playthrough. Good gameplay lasts generations.

Story for me, but that doesn't mean I play the game on Easy.
-
Both. Especially if it is a singleplayer game.

2 RepliesGameplay, cinematic gaming like Uncharted, Heavy Rain, etc can -blam!- right off.

I love story, gameplay is a big part of the story though.

Depends

Gameplay should come first. But story usually pips it. I'm a sucker for a ripping yarn.

Edited by Makai8642: 7/28/2013 10:12:24 PMGame play comes first for me personally. I played through Bioshock infinite once the first playthough was good but i felt no reason to return to it. But games like Metro:LL, Halo,Lost Planet. i have had multiple playthroughs not only because of the stories but mainly because the game play is really good. If someone made a game with no campaign but they used those resources to make the game more fun i would be a happy man,

2 RepliesBoth, one without the other sucks. It may have good gameplay but it could have a story that doesnt make you want to see it through to the end. Or it could have a great story but gameplay so boring and repetitive that you cant be bothered to continue.
-
Hard to decide. If a game has an excellent story but horrid gameplay, I might be put off the story. If the gameplay is amazing but the story sucks, the game might seem bland. Ultimately, I think I'm going with story though. It's the main reason I buy most of my games.
