• Well they are both based on YA novels starring a teenage girl and involves romance. Can't get any more alike than that. Besides literally everything else about them of course.

For one thing, The Hunger Games is actually good. Say what you will about the similarities with Battle Royale, but on its own it's a good story about a dystopian future with a revolution in the making led by a courageous heroine, that is if you can get past the teen romance aspect. On the other hand, Bella has no admirable qualities to her character, unlike Katniss. The series also takes a dump on the vampire mythos, turning unholy night predators into glistening pseudo-saviors.

The Hunger Games is to Battle Royale what Twilight is to Underworld. In both cases the original far surpasses the spin off.

In a teen love thriller sort of way. I like twilight more because the romance was more of a focal point.

      • Related by the genre of teen fantasy I suppose. I'm glad the movie didn't emphasize the love triangle aspect of the book, since it's largely unnecessary once Peeta gets indoctrinated. And in response to those mentioning Battle Royale, it's pretty obvious that Hunger Games tells a much more compelling and imaginative story than it's supposed inspiration.

      • Welllll Twilight, I honestly hated the whole cliché love triangle thing, and how they portrayed Vampires. The movies were even more horrible the book was at least readable and had quite the great diction. Never read the Hunger Games but saw the movies, both were great, once again, could've done without Cliché love triangle but the story of loss and the fight for freedom more then made up for it. So my final conclusion is...
'Nothing beats Harry Potter or LoTR
• I think a lot of people dislike The Hunger Games because its seen as popular. Of course it is aimed towards teens, so some people want to be against it just because of that. If they'd gone in there expecting to be entertained, then they would probably be entertained.
I watched the last Twilight on a date once. Expected it to be okay, but it was actually fun to watch.

If I watched it again I'd probably hate it.
• Hunger Games is sorta in that hype phase for people right now, just like how Twilight was originally. But the Hunger Games is actually a good movie, unlike Twilight. I went and saw the new one the other day, expecting it to be terrible, but I was surprised at how good it was.

No but the writer of The Hunger Games got the idea from flipping between a documentary about the war in Iraq and a reality TV show. If you want to know where I got this from look up BuzzFeed on YouTube for their Hunger Games DYK and Twilight is BORING
