What kind of boundaries do you think we will encounter?
I have been thinking about this for a bit, but I am unsure as to what would be the best way to wrangle us into certain play spaces without breaking our immersive experience. Surely we will not encounter the infamous invisible walls, but I don't feel that natural borders, such as rivers, canyons, and mountains should serve as an impasse. We will surely come across many mountain ranges and bodies of water while exploring the solar system, it only makes sense that we will be able to traverse these geographic formations adding diversity to our environmental interaction.
The best scenario I can come up with is to be able to hop in your spaceship and get dropped off at one of the cities or areas of interest on Earth or on the other planets. From there you would be able to roam freely throughout that location similar to how Skyrim works.
Tell me what y'all think is the best approach to this, or what you would like to see.

11 RepliesI think it would be cool if the bounds were like Lone Wolf in Halo: Reach. You would basically get bombarded by enemy forces to the point where it would be impossible to survive. That way you have no invis walls, and it could still be fun to get to the edge and just battle til you die.

Well on Mars their is a strong army of Cabal. So the boundaries are our brave guardian being bombarded by enemy species.

This is the first time I've thought about this. I can't really imagine what they'll do, as I agree that it probably won't be just invisible walls.

Here's a thought: We know the game will have stuff added to it every day. So what if it starts OFF with some sort of walls, and over the next few years the walls disappear as more zones and stuff are added till it IS a spherical planet?

Honestly I hope that we wouldn't encounter boundaries... But we know that this isn't something that is possible right now so I think we are just going to meet the soft kill boundaries like we've seen Bungie use before like in Halo: Reach.

1 ReplyI think destiny will have boundaries that slowly kill you when your standing out of the playing area. For example Venus, you go out of bounds and the corrosive looking swamp with slowly eat away at you. Or the moon, the darkness would could be used as a boundary and freezes you to death. It would be really interesting to have boundaries kill you in different ways, depending where you are playing
