Why did they change Deathstrokes name to his first name, Slade?

Slade from the show came off as a slasher flick villain; Deathstroke comes off as a mercenary, so I guess they were so different in personality that they changed the name? But at that point you might as well just invent a new villain.

I don't know, he didn't seem like the usual merc in this one, so I think the name change was okay.

Because it was a kid's show and the word "death" wasn't something they wanted to convey on there. Kinda stupid, if you ask me, but it's nothing major. His full name was Slade Wilson, so it's not just a random name pulled out of their asses, I guess.
