Halo PSA, objective games are NOT Slayer

I'm sure most of you have played Multi Team in Halo 3, Reach, and now Halo 4. So you'll know what the playlist is like. Four teams of three (and in Halo 4, six teams of two), square off in various OBJECTIVE and SLAYER game types. I come here to ask you what I should do about a certain problem that has been plaguing Multi Team, which is players who do not play the objective. I don't mind getting slaughtered in the games I'm matched in, I'm so used to getting wrecked by higher level players that going -30 means nothing to me. What I hate is when I'm playing Oddball, or King of The Hill and I'm up against teams that don't play the objective, only kill. Now I know what you're thinking "It's shooter! You're supposed to kill!" I agree, it would be retarded to play Halo and not attempt to kill enemies. However there is nothing justifiable about going the ENTIRE match in King of The Hill and Oddball without once scoring points and only racking up kills. You're ruining the experience for people who voted for Oddball/KoTH, we didn't vote for Slayer so stop pretending we did, play the game you're supposed to or quit. I got one game where my two team mates ran around only killing while I tried to get the ball. It's not fair how I have to carry my team points wise when they had the skill to wreck the other three teams. Also, kind of a Tangent, but stop jumping backwards in an attempt to assassinate. You look retarded and you're not "Pro Ninja" like you think you are. I had one game in Reach where I went into Armor Lock when I player tried to backwards jump assassinate me and he started flipping shit sending me hate messages. Anyways, this is just a PSA. If you want to player Slayer, you have your vote, but don't ruin other peoples experience by not playing the game properly.

  • Yo used armor lock, your arguement is invalid. Lol jk but yeah Ive run into a similar problem in Reach and it really ruins the point of objective based game types.

  • Screw playing the objective, i've always been able to just wipe out the enemy team and play Hitman so my random teammates can take care of the flag or ball. There's no point, i keep my K/D looking impressive, they get to look impressive for getting all 5 captures.

  • But Gaara! If I don't have the highest K/D, how will I win at Halo?

  • I see this problem in Chivalry as well. No one ever plays the objective.

  • I agree with what you said. Also, I lol'd at the jumping backwards. I had a couple games in Reach where that was all the enemy team tried to do, it was funny because they would run up an incline and I'd chase them half way then they would stop and then I'd stop and shoot them since they were just standing in place waiting for me to get close to them.

If the other teams aren't playing the objective, it should be easy for you to win. I don't see the problem.

    • I agree with you for the most part, but trying to pull a leapfrog in an emergency is a perfectly legitimate tactic. Sure, you die most of the time, but when you've got no shields and a guy right behind you, it's better than nothing.

    • Pro tip: Don't play Bungie/343 default objective gametypes. If slaying and playing the objective aren't aligned around 80% of the time, that is a bad objective gametype.
