It's a Team Slayer main course and player counts would fit swimmingly into both Social Slayer and Team Slayer hoppers and I think it might even be possible to shoehorn a few more players into the mix without overcrowding things. [b]Purple Reign[/b] continues to see slick revisions. The earliest iteration of the map actually had a completely different overall shape. If I sketched the cross section of the map's floor onto a napkin it would've looked like a small hill, but when you played it, it wasn't readily apparent. In the last month, the concavity was changed so that if you were staring the same napkin with the new version of it it'd look more like a gently sloping bowl. The difference in the way the map played then versus now is pretty remarkable. Subtle changes to the floor's geometry resulted in wider lines of sight for players staring down one half of the map and an intricate and strategic mix of floor/column/ramp gameplay on the other side and all of the sneaky jumps those mechanics entail. One of the sooner-than-later maps is a treat we’re calling [b]Vandelay[/b]. Vandelay is structurally the simplest map we’ve ever made, yet the tools that we’re providing with the help of the Forge give the map tons of potential. That potential could be used for devising clever contraptions, unique playspaces and when paired with Player Traits could become a test bed for new ideas from both Bungie and the playerbase. Tom Doyle, one of the artists working on some of the fineries in Vandelay described the knicks and knacks on the map as Legos. Up until now, Forge has been primarily thought of as an object editor. It’s been a great tool for devising tweaks and changes to maps, the net result ranging from “Oh, you put more BRs on Snowbound,” to “Wow, you made a Jail that you rescue players from.” We hope that Vandelay will help folks use the Forge because of the variety and different types of tools players will have at their disposal. Doyle has been working tirelessly with Tyson Green on these objects and tools. Changing weapons and spawns inevitably affects balance and map flow, but the Legos that Doyle is talking about will let players create spaces for gameplay and give them the means of dictating where players will encounter their foes, in addition to what they will be holding when they get there. Again, like we were with the Forge in the first place, we’re pretty stoked to see what folks come up with when Vandelay releases into the wild.   • this is BULL S*** i barely had enough money to buy my 360($350) then i had to get enough money to buy halo 3($60) then i have to pay for xbox live ($8.99 per month) and NOW i have to get microsoft point witch is 20.00$ for 1900 WTH in halo2 we didnt have to buy the map just beacuse halo3 is awsome your going to milk us for money [Edited on 11.22.2007 12:24 PM PST]

  • I have an interesting idea for a game type for the new Art Vandalay map type. Build a fortress in the middle of the map around a giant pile of fusion coils. The fortress should be challenging to defend but at the same time have some good choke points to create some intense fire fights. One team should spawn inside the fortress and one outside. The attackers would be trying to infilitrate the fortress and destroy the fusion coils thereby blowing the fortress to bits and ending the round. I think it would be an intense game with an exciting and satisfying conclusion. Another interesting thought that occured to me was that if you started with the map blank, you could cover the entire floor with crates, in essence creating a whole new floor, just on a higher level. Then, you could strategically delete crates to create sunken WWI type trenches. I just thought it could be interesting to build down, in a manner of speaking, as well as up. If there were enough crates available, in the budget, you could even create mult-tiered subteranean levels, like the grand canyon made of crates, with tunnels and caves, and perhaps one strategic pathway up to ground level, or even a mix of caverns and towers. I'm not sure whether or not I'm making my vision clear, and I sincerely doubt that there will be enough crates in the Forge budget to get my exact idea down on the map, but if I ever get my xbox live connection working again and get around to messing around in forge I'll do my best to make it happen.

  • I forgot something, You fools have nothing to complain about when it comes to money you make more money than i do and i just sit here and play your game, so yeah you have plenty of money to spend no reason you have to eat us dry of our dollars, some of us can't afford to make you richer by the 10dollar bills. Oh and yes 10 dollars is alot of money maybe not to each individual but in the whole it adds up to millions of dollars quickly.

  • Interesting I think that if you were coming out with maps that are more classic like coagulation I would be more interested. Admittedly though the maps look and sound cool as they usually do, but the way you worded it, it made me feel like you guys held off finishing the maps and putting them originally in halo 3 so you can meet your deadline and put a price on your first map pack. Pricing them is one thing and could be acceptable if it wasn't for the fact that i would be paying 10 bucks for three maps, it would be different if it was 5 maps or 5 dollars I would be more lineanet. They aren't even close to being worth 10 bucks, besides its not like i can buy 800 points just anywhere I have to buy the 1000 to be able to get the maps then I would be left with 200 points which is completely useless because you can't buy anything with that amount other than gamerpics and themes, which neither of those are worth that much to me ill stick with the free themes and gamerpics. In fact you guys can't complain you made a whole lot of money off of halo 3 and to try and drain more money off of us is rather insulting and I take offense to being by you to make a quick buck. Oh and don't complain about microsoft setting the price because if your a seperate company and you have the tradition of setting the price at $5 I don't see how hard it could be to continue with tradition and get it thru microsofts soft heads that you like to keep your traditions. Not to mention you had the first map pack was free and the others were not free because you were experimenting to see if people would be stupid enough to pay, which some decided to because they weren't patient for the free date or because they wanted to play the matchmaking that you had so nice of you to lock up so most couldn't play it. You say your fixing that now so ill give the benifit of the doubt on that but not on the price for 3 maps that aren't adding any new weapons to the game or extra achievements or new vehicles. They might as well be blank maps cause they don't offer anything to the game other than a few different areas to play in. Let me remind you of how mechassault was with their alwesome dlc. You had to pay and their wasn't ever a free date but they had alot of content added to each of their downloads and their patches actually updated the system with usefull data. Like fixing the problem with melees. The fact that you have to press halfway down on the button before the melee actually activated is stupid and a bad design, don't tell me to just change my controller scheme because i am used to that scheme and can't change without alot of time spent and i don't have that time. I used to love meleeing, but now it seems no matter if I have full shield or if they do or If they have no shield and i have no shield, the other persons melees always seems to kill me. I can get lucky on occasion but me and my friend seem to have the same problem and it annoys us because melees are our religion practically so it realy ruined our game when you made a delay in the melees. The only things really wrong with halo 2 was you kept removing match types, and with cheaters but you are commended for defeating cheaters with the theater feature, I also had a few problems with the power of the battle rifle but I will say that you actually stand a chance against it now with the variety of power weapons, especially the needler revamping. I think you have a nice selection of equipment and other weapons but I hate the flare it doesn't help anybody except blind you. I wish you would add coagulation because I can picture the greatest infection types on it ever, just make sure people can't get off the maps like they did in halo 2 and i won't have a problem with it, I wouldn't mind seeing some tanks in matchmaking or seeing the fuelrod gun, you know sticks some stuff in matchmaking you put into the game but haven't implemented in hardly anything. On a final note and wrap-up I deslike having to pay 10 bucks for 3 maps, its completely stupid and unorthodox. I do not enjoy having to stop melees all together because of delays in button presses and lag in game. Im tired of laggy connections and slow load times to get into a game. In short you have more cons than pros as such I can say that im going to try to play a few more custom games and then im done with halo3 then next halo games ill play are halo wars, I want to also stress that I have more fun playing custom games with friends than playing matchmaking when the majority of your population gets on after 3pm (school kids in case im still talking to dumb dumbs) last night your supposedly alwesome game was down to about 45000 you know you guys have just steadily had a downfall and are continuing by reimplementing team hardcore too. Oh last words, Your turnings something that isn't even an mmo, a pay to play game, adding weapons , costumes for your characters would be more worth it, or at least a dollar per map would be nice too but no 10 dollars is just stupid and im done with it you can keep halo 3 all to your selves and the 10 year old ignaramous fools, in fact i wish bungie to hear those voices in their heads for the next 10 years a year for each dollar your making it pay to play, enjoy your dreams.

  • Dont know if this has been posted before or even said in the update but i think bunkerworld is Sidewinder. Look at the big bunker, its like the one in SW. And the long curvy rode too

  • I cant wait for Foundry. I love doing Forge and cant get enough of it. I can basically do anything I want in this map to make a great custom game. These maps may not be Lockout or Midship or whatever maps everyone wanted but all I can say is Bungie tries to make us happy. We complain about the maps and they make new ones. I really dont have a problem with any map. Its about how you play them. But anyways, when these maps come out im doing Forge all day lol. Thanks Bungie for giving me 3 more Forge maps ^^

  • Your right, it is expensive to modle a map... how much do you think it would cost to make one? Say 3 guys, 2 weeks? ok, 3 guys on what? $5 maybe $8 an hour? Im not sure as Im not in America... even so,, do you think they will make enough money from say 9000 fans? who are paying $10 each? Even if i take 10 people 4 weeks... Now do you see why people are not happy. First you pay for a game,. now it was up to you to buy the normal version or the Legendery one. and now they say if you want to play new maps,, you have to pay again, Ow and by the way, we will be doing more, and you will have to pay for them as well. I not only play on my 360 I also play on my PC, where I have never had to pay for a map in my life, Im sure in some games you do have to,, but I have never. Bungie always say they are thankful to all the fans, but never show it. They will always be able to do what they want because of the die hard halo fans,, that will pay anything bungie asks for. And its them I feel sorry for,.because in the end, they will look out of the bugne hole and see what they are doing. Im not getting the new maps, its not about money, I dont have a problem in that area, its just the fact that Im playing COD4 and have not picked up Halo since I got it, because halo offers nothing new. And the fact that they still want people to pay to play. And yes people are not being forced to buy the maps. Thats not the point, the point is, how much money do you think Bungie will make off of this? and Im sure someone will say its not Bungies idea to make people pay for the maps,, its MS. Im sure if bugnie turned and said we want to give the fans a little somthing, say 2 out of the 3 maps for free, then sell 4 maps for $10,, I dont thin bill would have a porblem with that. Plus, to get a nice high-poly model, you need an expensive computer, ram helps alot, typically 2 gigs and up. And this brings me back to my point.
