"stable, dedicated servers for every multiplayer game rather than the notoriously fragile practice of hosting matches on one participant’s console; even multiplayer matches that can grow to 64, even 128 participants, rather than the usual limit of 16 or 32."

Dude, its a story about Microsoft's acquisition of servers not the fact of every game having them. The quote about every game having dedicated servers is by the writer of the article and not an Microsoft official. Microsoft will have servers that developers and publishers can "access" not "giving", and ultimately will still be the choice upon the devs/pubs to use them. Its the vision and potential the servers have but if the devs/pubs don't wanna spend the money then they won't spend the money.

Go watch the Microsoft conference again.

Honestly it seems far fetched but it seems like something feasible for Microsoft.
