When I play Pokemon I usually just play the story, I don't bother with EVs, natures, and all that crap. I sometimes battle with friends who also the same.
In the world of competetive battling though people take it very very seriously. They'll breed for hours and hours, making sure to get the right nature and stats, perfecting their battle strategies with no need for error.
Are you one of these people? Or do you just play the games casually, not bothering with any of that stuff?

God, I never play online its hell

Simulators are the easiest way to play competitively. You don't have to train for hours and hours to max out stats
-
I don't even know what EV and IV are.

Good observation

i just play it for what it is once im done with it i either start again or start on completing the pokedex

1 ReplyAt first I played really casually, not even knowing the difference between special and physical attacks. But when I learned about IVs and EVs it really interested me, so I soft reseted for a +Sp Att nature MewTwo with 31 IVs in Special Attack. I then EV trained it to get its Sp Att to the max (whopping 447). I don't do competitive battles or anything, (well this is on 3rd gen so who could I battle really?) but it was still cool to see how Pokemon was a lot more indepth than I thought IMO.

1 ReplyAm I the only person on the planet who thinks pokemon is stupid?

Casually. I've tried EV training before and I got really bored.

Edited by Oliver Queen: 6/22/2013 6:58:37 PMi don't play competitively because only 3 of my friends have pkmn but i do ev train. I also follow tourney rules.

I play the game causally, but my friends are pretty hardcore.

i love pokemon and i can play seriously but not like everyone else who has to get a certain nature and all that. my friend is crazy about pokemon, he can name every single pokemon in a row from #1 to #649 and he can name every item you can find in each game and where you can find it. its a little scary.

At first I thought you were talking about the card game..
-
I play the games casually, however I do love watching competitive battles.

I used to play Pokemon all the time then I went to middle school and now as a college student I'm back in to it

Edited by aBallisticToucan: 6/22/2013 4:18:33 PMFor the storyline/in-game? No. The game itself is easy enough to beat without it. After the game, and playing online? Yes. It's the only way to battle online without getting -blam!-ing destroyed over and over by Japanese people.

I take it seriously most of the time. I enjoy the story first though.

Sometimes I find it more fun trying to breed and train the perfect Pokemon than actually battling. I find playing through the story most fun, though.
