• I'm still going with Sony. Why? The only reason Microsoft did this was because they knew they would lose against Sony. Sony, on the other hand, never intended to screw us out of our games or not let us lend games to friends. It's good that Microsoft backed out, but this doesn't change my opinion of them at all. This does not change the fact that they were going to -blam!- us in the asses if they could have.

    • It's a little worrying they didn't have the foresight to see that people wouldn't be pleased with their original policies. Perhaps the executives in charge have become out of touch with what gamers want? The original announcement certainly pointed to that IMO. So I have to question whether Xbox as a business will have gamers in mind in the future after I, hypothetically, commit to purchasing their console and games.

I would suggest that a company who wanted to do this in the first place, is a company to be wary of.

          • Color me surprised.... Still requires a kinect, still is $100 more then the ps4, and both of them for me would do the same thing. Still not that hard of a decision at all, can save $100 and still do everything I want to do with the ps4. Also that MS even tried to pull this bullshit, it shows exactly how they were thinking, how do we squeeze more money out.

            • That is awesome. So between the two consoles it comes down to the extra $100 and third party headsets no longer working. Honestly, if I hear anybody making an adapter so my Turtle Beach works on the Xbox One then I think I'm sold.

              • I think it's total bullshit. Sorry, but even if they retract this, the simple thought that they tried to make this happen is absolutely pathetic. I am not backing down in my stance that I am done with Microsoft, as far as their gaming is concerned. The XBOX One is trying to do everything at once. Not interested. I'm interested in a gaming console. And far as that is concerned, they failed me there. I bought PS+ for my Vita, and I couldn't be happier, and I'll be even more thrilled that I can pay one price for both of my devices. I'm done with XBOX. They have enough of my money. They bit my feeding hand, and I'm striking back. And I'm sure a lot of people agree with me.

                •
All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360.
So that would mean I can lend games to friends just as I did with the 360? So there are no restrictions or anything?

Still wouldn't buy one because I hate the Kinect with a passion, but I would be less disgusted with microsoft as a company. If its true then they saw the preorder numbers and finally realized their mistake. Customer is always right.

                    • Very much doubt this is true. MS has its collective head shoved so far up its ass to even acknowledge it I am guessing. If they do change it I will be surprised.

                    • What I think about it? Still $100 more than the PS4, Kinect is still mandatory, and it's still has 50% less raw power than the PS4. Will consider picking up in 5 years.

I think it's long overdue and was a bad idea to even consider it.

                      • Well, I for one am disappointed in their new direction. I was looking forward to the innovation being applied, instead we're back to the basics. "Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray."

                        • People, there cloud features aren't being taken out. If your console is connected to the interent you will still get those benefits. This is good.

Good move on their part. Predictable, but still good. The funny thing about it is that Sony fanboys were complaining about the DRM and 24 hour check-in, and now they're complaining about them ditching it. People have this idea like Microsoft is supposed to be their friend or something. "I don't care if they took it back. It wasn't because of what gamers want, it was for money. They have no integrity!" WHY DO YOU CARE WHAT THE REASON IS!? It's not like you're going to be hanging out playing games with MS executives. No DRM crap is No DRM crap. Admittedly, there are things I will miss(family sharing, playing games without discs), but what we gained is hell of a lot more important. Everything they were planning on implementing was targeted toward the future. They know it won't be long before gaming is all digital, and they wanted to get an early start on setting up that infrastructure. But we're not there yet, and their plan for the future didn't fit the present. It was unjust and annoying, and a line had to be drawn.

                          • That's awesome, I'm glad they listened to all the negative feedback about everything they were doing wrong, and actually did something about it. Not all companies do that.

                          • I liked the One more than the PS4 because of the possibilities the always-online requirement would have brought. Being able to switch games without having to switch discs for example was something I was really looking forward to (this may sound extremely lazy, but we all know it was a chore). Now it's just a 360 with better specs...

                                • If they make Kinect optional and have a bundle without the Kinect for $349 they will destroy Sony.
