Now this is a huge question. How awsome would it be to start playing the beta and be able to save your character and carry them to the actual with limits of course on level but at least get a start on looks and weapons maybe. I think it would be cool not to have to start fresh after the beta but then again there will be people that will only play the beta for that reason and try to boost and get alot of items and gear and weapons to start off with. what is everyone thoughts on this?

9 RepliesNo it would be a night mare. Off they took out certain guns or changed something, it would be hard to let every character keep it.

Yes. BUT BUT BUTTCAPES A condition to this "yes" I deliver. Being as a beta is to iron out bugs and make sure everything works fine, and in itself isn't a demo, I'd suggest very basic aspects of your character carry over. Name, Class, customization options you chose and whatever else you're able to decide on from the beginning. This can include basic armor and weapons that'd be available from the game. Level, looted weapons/armor/vehicles/whateverelse is not kept. This way, if you played the Beta, you get a benefit from it. You can hit the ground running in Destiny. Or, as a bit of an alternative. The beta is left partially open. You can make your character, and simply save it till the day Destiny comes out.

A unique buttcape for Beta testers. Problem = solved.
-
Well there needs to be a Beta first.
-
It would be cool, but I doubt it will happen.

1 ReplyNo beta has even been confirmed yet. But I would suspect not, as it would cause massive bugs. Also, my guess is that a very small portion of the community is going to be selected, based on the whole selection process that Bungie put up for a testing sign up.
-
That'd but everyone who didn't beta test at a ridiculously unfair advantage. There will be tons of people testing the beta, and even I don't want to be sent into the universe with a whole bunch of noobiez equipped only with level 70 weapons while everyone else has level 9001 fully automatic rocket launchers and armor that I can't even put a dent in. That'd just tip the balance of competitive multiplayer right off the bat.

It would be nice, but as people have said, code will undoubtedly be different in the final game, so some things won't be transferable on Bungie's side. That said, you could always make a note of your settings before the beta is over, and then apply them to your character when the game launches if you still want them.

This usually does not happen in most cases, for a variety of reasonings really. The two main ones are that; 1) Its a beta test, meaning many formulas, algorithms and stat-charts will be modified at a glance, and therefore could create an unstable character when transitioning into a real-launch world. 2) Beta Testing is not a gift, admittedly you are supposed to 'work at it' to help developers find those issues that need resolving, quite often the case is that Beta Testers should feel entitled to something, they shouldn't - you decide if you participate afterall, not mandatory.
-
Probably not. Presumably there will be changes between the Beta and the Actual game, it's better just to wipe the slate.
-
Awesome, It won't happen. The best thing you can hope for is some sort of item or title that indicates you were part of the beta.
-
Hopefully not, that would be unfair. They should get something cosmetic though, even if it is for your avatar only.
-
2 RepliesNo, it would give people an advantage
-
2 RepliesNot to mention when they apply patches to beta and fixes they often wipe all character data so that bugs dont have a chance to carry over to new beta build with the character save data.
-
I can guarantee you it will not happen.

2 Repliesvery true dezarath what would also be interesting is if ps4 and ps3 players can play together on destinybservers or is the game with be only system specific ps4 player with ps4 players and os3 with ps3 etc... and ur right what if u start on one system and buy the other one can you transfer ur character this is a good question
-
It didn't happen in Reach so I can't see it happening for the Destiny Beta if that happens. The real question clattering around in my head is can we take our character over to a rival platform? What a colossal waste of time for 360 and PS3 players who choose to buy the other guy's console and they can't take over those weapons and gear they unlocked prior.
-
It wouldn't.
-
1 ReplyNo because then it gives you chance to start over invade you did anything you didn't like
-
Not worth it, considering a Beta is to polish up and catch bugs using many players in multiple situations. You're confusing a Beta with a Demo. A Demo I could see a carry-over, but maybe up to level 3, and no major armor/weapon changes.

a friend mentioned this topic to me so I posted it but Im not liking the idea unless it is only for looks and not carry over possible level or gear as that would just be cheap but what do yall think?
