Oculus Rift will never see high usage rates. It is expensive, an "extra" feature, requires game support implemented by developers, and only provides extra immersion. Destiny will more than likely not support Oculus Rift, games likely to support Oculus Rift are the simulator types such as ArmA 3, or eye candy rig destroyer type games such as Crysis 3 or Metro 2033. The technology is just not practical or necessary enough to be implemented on all triple A titles and will likely remain so forever.

Forever? Nah. Like all new innovations, it'll just take time to Normalize before being used commonly. If it catches on /in the right way/. So, depends. I'd rather see marvelous virtual arenas where people compete using the Oculus Rift and other VR like equipment to put on a damn awesome show though. That'd be cooler.

TF2 and Star Citizen already boast oculus rift support and since they are selling it as a peripheral I am pretty sure the price range will be tolerable.
