IGN asked Bungie their thoughts on Xbox One, and instead of talking about the Xbox they started talking about how much they like PS4.
Eric Osborne, Senior Writer and Head of Community at Bungie:
I’m excited for the next generation of games. Not just the horsepower, but the services both parties [Sony and Microsoft] are building around it. When we went down and looked at what our pillars for Destiny would be -- which, by the way, have existed since 2009 -- and then looked at their pillars in candid conversations we were having with Sony before their reveal in February, they’re almost like a mirror with each other. Shared stories, building your legend, living worlds that feel alive instead of a disc in a drive, spaces that are fundamentally cooperative. All those things line up so well with next-gen messaging. It was exciting for us to see that something we were building was not only fundamentally next-gen without the hardware, but we sort of became the de facto tip-of-the-spear for next-gen by nature of what we were building. I think that’s a really fun place to be...
Basically they shared the same vision as Sony did with PS4. It's possible that some money was exchanged, but Bungie is not hurting for money at all. I think they are giving PS4 preferential treatment because they like the specs of the system more, and see it as the "gamers system" whereas MS is now focusing on being a media-hub.

Y u ask. Bcuz it is the first game for ps and they want to not b the last

They're giving it the "preferential treatment" as you put it not because of the specs, but because they don't have a fanbase with Playstation. Millions of Xbox players will buy Destiny, that much is obvious. But the PS crowd is more of a loose canon. If they try to appeal to them, say I don't know...with exclusive content or appearing at the Sony Press Conference then its obviously because they're trying to get Playstation owners excited about Destiny, not because they're sticking it to Microsoft. I swear us gamers are a melodramatic bunch sometimes. All this talk of loyalty and crap, you guys need to get over yourselves.

6 RepliesIf you look at all the questions on the forms what console people are getting Destiny on over 60% say Xbox so i just can't see the Playstation getting special treatment but Playstation rocks!
-
It still doesn't make sense that they like the PS4 so much that they would shit on there loyal fans and block out content for them.
-
I feel that it's Microsofts fault that Bungie's games are no longer exclusive to the Xbox. I'm sure if Bungie felt like they were treated good they would have stayed.
-
They aren't
-
I think Bungie knows that xbox faithfuls are going to buy Destiny. That group of gamers doesn't need to have the game promoted. PS faithfuls are possibly unaware of how great Bungie is so they need some coaxing to check out their work.

Has anyone thought that maybe Microsoft didn't want Destiny at their press conference? Microsoft has 15 exclusives coming out in the first year: 8 of those being brand new IPs. They have 90 mins. (granted, that's a lot of time) to get all of these exclusives into the minds of consumers. Destiny will be on both platforms and Microsoft NEEDS to sell the Xbox1 to the gaming community. Exclusives are what a lot of gamers look at when making a console purchase decision. I'm sure Bungie needing to appeal to the Sony market is part of it, I just suspect there could be more to it than just that. Just my two cents.
-
2 RepliesMaybe its because Bungie was tired of Microsoft and they left so now they see that Sony is a lot better.
-
5 RepliesIt's because Bungie hasn't made a game for the PS in a very long time. They need to build up a fan base again, and they are attracting people with the promise of little bit of exclusive DLC. Not a big a deal. I don't understand why people are having such a hard time realizing this and blowing things out of proportion.

1 ReplySour feelings toward MS is my guess. Rushed development of Halo 2, forced into more games than they wanted truly wanted to do, had to sell ODST $40 higher than they intended, and having to watch their franchise be run into the ground. If I were Bungie, I wouldn't be to keen on Microsoft either.
-
Because they did so much for Xbox and there trying to get some ps fans in here to but the extra content is a little over board
-
1 ReplyIts weird that Bungie is favoring Playstation, I mean, they have been developing for xbox all these years, why switch now. I guess in the end, its up to Activision what platform the give the most support to.
-
Because it doesn't suck

2 RepliesEdited by Lord Commissar: 6/6/2013 4:22:46 PMThat response is from a separate interview that had nothing to do with the Xbox. IGN just threw a bunch of responses together (fuck one is from Zynga a facebook game company that's going under) in order to garner a bunch of hits and fuel this stupid ass console war. IGN and Kotaku are the gaming equivalent of tabloids. They propagate any rumor they think they may have heard and flat out make shit up in order to garner attention knowing that idiots will eat this shit right up.

4 Repliesthe ps fans don't deserve destiny just the other day I ran into 2 ps fans and asked them if they were exited about destiny and they both said I F**king hat bungie and all their games are shit
-
I am probably going to be buying the PS4 based so far on my disappointment in the Xbox One. Can't wait for E3 2013.
-
1 ReplyIt's because bungie has a bone to pick with MS
-
2 RepliesI thought it was so Activision could have big titles on each console. CoD Ghosts on Xbox while Destiny on Playstation
-
You really think that a dev going multi-plat would still display preference for the console they've been based on for 10 years?
-
Anyone think the Exclusive deal might be for DLC Map packs, 1 month early... similar to COD
-
4 RepliesThe answer is just one sentence long! BECAUSE IT'S THEIR FIRST TIME ON THE CONSOLE.
-
Bungie has not made a game for PS in 12 years. I would be excited to if I was employed by Bungie. Us Xbox players have been catered to enough by Bungie over the past 12 years. Get over it guys Bungie still loves us.
-
What in the hell? I remember reading an interview here on Bungie.net where Sony was replaced with Microsoft with that exact text. Which one is it?!
-
3 RepliesSimple BUNGIE was in debt, Microsoft bailed them out and BUNGIE saved XBOX with HALO . After that BUNGIE wanted to retain to being BUNGIE and being free. Microsoft said yes on 1 condition; we keep HALO and all the rights. BUNGIE had a hard decision to make sell our souls or be free. In a sense it was their DESTINY to be free. So they left, the next as some would say in the 20th Century is history.
