I played an hour of Remember Me, and here's my initial thoughts

I realize that a lot of you have be thinking about getting Remember Me, but some of the reviews are turning you away. Well, I'm hoping to change that. Keep in mind that I've only played the first hour of the game.
Story The game starts where you, Nilin, are getting a memory by a company known an Memorize (so original, right?). After that memory wipe, a friend of yours, Edge, is able to communicate with you via a Seren. A Seren is a device that everybody "wears" that lets people share their memorize with another. After some events, a chase scene, and mini boss battle, you end up at Tommy's Bar, the Leaking Brain. Tommy is another one of your friends that you can't seem to remember because of the memory wipe. Once you're at The Bar, Tommy explains that you are part of an organization that is aiming to take down Memorize. After this scene, something really cool happens, but we'll save that later.

Combat and Health Seeing that the game IS a Capcom game, and with all of their experience in fighting games, the fighting in Remember Me is awesome and very, very fluid. One thing that I have noticed about the combat is that it is very combo oriented. To pull off a powerful strike, you have to perform a certain combo. This is a given in just about every game now a days, but here's something that I found unique and I dunno how I should feel about this yet. To regain health, you must perform a 5 strike combo. This definitely adds to the difficulty of the game, making automatic health regeneration and "health potions" obsolete. And to land that 5 hit combo on enemies can be difficult at times, especially if you're somebody like me who isn't too great at comboing moves in video games. Guess this is a good time to learn, and it's good hands on experience, since I'm forced to do it.

Voicing and Animations The voice acting in the game isn't bad at all, it's actually quite good. Lip sync is perfect and the dialogue doesn't sound corny and embarrassing. Now the animations on the other hand...well....they're quite shotty. When a "cutscene" shows up (they're not actual cutscenes, they're Mass Effect style where you don't make that transition from game engine to a much better looking cutscene) the animations seem to suddenly become choppy and out of sync. Some people may not see this as a problem, I personally can get over it, but some people will definitely find it a bit annoying.

Altering memories This is easily the coolest feature in the entire game, IMO. For certain targets, you can access their recent memories and alter them to make said person give you some information, kill himself, or even have him join your side. It's quite neat, but the actual process of making this happen is what really makes it shine. So you find your target, tap into their memory, boom, you can start altering. You can rewind, fast forward, play, or pause the memory to find what's called "memory glitches". Memory glitches are well, glitches in the memory that let you alter the memory. If you chance certain memory glitches though and not have the right pattern, you can fail the memory alteration and will have rewind and try to figure out what's wrong. So basically, it's fun to mess around with the different memory glitches to get new cutscenes and scenarios, and to find that perfect string to complete your goal.
So there's my initial thoughts and I guess you could say a "mini-review" of the first hour of the game. I hope you all pick up Remember Me and enjoy it, because I know I certainly am.
