I have seen without a doubt not a fair comparison between the two. This is the thread to start and end all the comparisons.
ODST FIREFIGHT
-Reuses different section from campaign
-Can only be played one way
-Is not customizable
-Firefight voices for only character you pick
-Has 5 sets
REACH FIREFIGHT
-Reuses different section from campaign
-Is customizable(Change enemy behavior, choose which skulls to use, change your characters movement speed, no AA, health, and etc.)
-You can play it in any way you want
-Has DLC maps for it
-You can make it fair to able to play by yourself
-Generator defense
-A array of selection of firefight voices
-Has 3 sets

1 ReplyEdited by kgj: 5/31/2013 11:02:00 PMThe AI was fracking retarded in both. ODST sold itself on the "pack mentality" which was basically an excuse for "these Brutes are going to sit the f*ck back here and wait for you to kill them and then we'll spam Chieftains at you to mix things up a bit." In Reach the AI ran up to your face and tore your testicles off with their aimbots. ODST's maps had a far better flow to them though. Aside from the map Unearthed, Reach's maps were all sort of "king of the hill" style defense games whereas ODST's encouraged map movement. Though this may be due to the whole "pack mentality" thing... Yes, customization is possible in Reach, but in terms of AI, it doesn't really change that much at all. I can't make the AI go into cover more, nor can I change their overall positioning on a map, or change the group dynamics, or change the weapon usage/melee usage, or change the AA usage, etc. Where did the CE/H2 AI go Bungie? Where...

8 RepliesEdited by MongotheDread: 5/31/2013 8:34:05 PMODST's firefight was much better than Reach's. The only thing Reach did better was the customization, and I think it went a little overboard with it. Blowing up hundreds of sword elites using bottomless clip rocket lawn chairs was only worth a single game. I just enjoyed being an ODST, rather than an almighty spartan. And don't tell me to just "increase the difficulty" of Reach's firefight. Doing that in Reach was just bland and boring. ODST has a sort of natural difficulty to it that Reach just can't compete with.

9 RepliesFair comparison? You can't compare these here. ODST Firefight was a thousand times better than Reach's firefight. Period.
-
ODST FireFight was an epic struggle for survival. Reach FireFight was a shooting gallery.

2 RepliesEdited by Quantum: 5/31/2013 8:25:08 PMReach's AI made a lot more stupid mistakes, but they were far more aggressive and thus far more dangerous as a result. Halo 3's AI could be abused heavily because they did not dodge that much. ODST's was an improvement but they still had that decisive strength. "Ultra Drop Pods" were insane. In terms of AI I'd say Reach's Elites take this.

6 RepliesODST just had a backs against the wall dynamic feel to it. No amount of customisation in Reach can compare to it. Sorry, but "turn the difficulty up" or "customise your weapon loadouts" is not an excuse. ODST was just more fun at the end of the day, and Reach was not. Maybe it was flow of the maps, maybe not. I can't exactly nail it, but nonetheless I loved ODST's and hated Reach's.

All we need to appreciate is that they are both better than Spops.
-
ODST had better maps, Reach had better gameplay.
-
I personally think the ODST version is harder without the ability to customize anything but the difficulty, but that's understandable, since it was Bungie's first version of Firefight.
-
Both are great and easily trumps Spartan Ops.
-
reach had a better firfight

8 RepliesWhat about the AI? IIRC that was one of the biggest complaints about Reach's FF.
