8 RepliesThis problem is no different from people posting music up and depriving the record companies of an income. LPers and commentators should sort out their lives and get an actual, constructive job. Seriously.

Sounds like Sega's little derp... Dont they know that this helps their sales? You see people playing, they think its good and they may want to buy it!.. Thankfully I do not do Nintendo games these days.
-
2 RepliesWell that sucks. That's half of what SSoHPKC has put up.
-
All LPs except for Two Best Friends Play are terrible.
-
Their fault for monetizing the videos.
-
2 RepliesI stopped listening after the 0:50-1:01 section and said "here's a thought: Instead of monetizing your LP video and risk losing that revenue to the owners of the IP, how about not monetizing videos and therefore not infringing on the IP's owner's rights to their product and money made off their product and getting a real job contributing to society instead?" That's what most of the disclaimers say anyway, right? "Thou shalt not sell our product", and there are legal loopholes for educational and personal entertainment use. If you are using monetized LP videos, you're selling time and exposure to advertisers on your videos which is based on something not of your original creation, for your own profit. Nintendo is legally and morally correct in their actions. They obviously have no problem with the video existing because they didn't take it down. Why? It grants them exposure: you're a free advertisement for them. I see nothing wrong with what Nintendo is doing.

1 ReplyWho in their right mind would make an LP of a Nintendo game ?.?
-
2 RepliesI've got Nintendo content in quite a few of my videos, no problems yet.
-
They are taking revenue, not removing the videos. If I'm not mistaken Microsoft does the same thing with Halo-related music and such. It sucks if your loan source of income is YouTube videos that features Nintendo games and content, but it could be worse. I look at it like this: Nintendo created and funded the music and gameplay. If people are making a profit on it then its no different then any other copyright infringement.
-
I see nothing wrong with this. Grow up, people.
-
just what they need, kill their already dying console by making their fans more upset.
-
ITT: Those with common sense and those who are butthurt Youtube nerds who are mad they can't generate money off someone else's product without permission.
-
7 RepliesGood, LPers shouldn't be on youtube. And they certainly shouldn't be making revenue from doing Lps.

12 RepliesEdited by Khirna: 5/16/2013 5:39:56 AMPaused the video to comment. This guy starts out with good points, and then around the two minute mark makes an ass of himself saying that Youtube is the reason that Minecraft and similar games were extremely successful. They would have been just as successful without it. Resuming video. Now having finished video, I'm going to burst your bubble OP. Nintendo can do whatever they want in this regard and they are in the right. I support this decision. Just because someone adds commentary to gameplay vids doesn't mean they should generate revenue off of it. It's nintendo's property, so they should reap the benefits. Also, it's nintendo, who cares? The Wii U, I mean Wii+, is going to be the end of the company. That is, in the console generation, their hand helds are still better than the rest.

So what? You arn't allowed to make money off MS games or sony games without their written permission. You get permission off them, then you are alright. Otherwise you are basically making money off of somebody elses product i.e. copyright infringement. This isn't high school bro, Nintendo are a big company that's falling hard to the ground and needs to go on the defensive with money. Learn to live in the real world and not the WAHHHHITDUMBENOTFAIR world.
-
Just delete those videos and cut off Nintendo's scheme at grabbing extra cash.
