The pressure to buy a console/consoles games on PC gamers

Hi so I've got your attention. My observation so far on the gaming industry in concern with PC gaming over the years is, first the decline games being designed for PC then ported to console to a reversal of that where games are being designed for console and later ported to PC. Now it seems they are porting less and less titles to PC leaving us PC gamers in the dark. I for one am sick of it and have stopped purchasing any console games period instead have focused on indie companies willing to make PC content. I refuse to being pressured to buy a console games to continue playing their favorite franchise. I am not say all franchises have stopped making for PC entirely. but its slowly becoming the norm and secondly there is less and less franchises being introduced to the PC Community Destiny for example I would love to see Destiny released for the pc when its released but sadly It seems it will. not What is everyone else thoughts on, major Publishers and Developers slow abandonment of PC gaming?

  • Whats funny is that none of your statements are true. The PC gaming market is actually picking up steam (no pun intended) and many large and ambitious games come out for it every year that developers wont port to consoles because they know that consoles can't handle them. Even multiplatform developers such as Bethesda and Valve end up supporting the PC release more than their consoles ones with quicker patching and releasing modding tools to the community. The PC gaming scene is only going to get bigger in the coming years.

No one is pressuring you to do anything. PC's just have a much smaller audience in terms of who's going to be using their computer as a gaming rig. They're also much more difficult to develop for since their are so many varied systems, whereas Consoles are just really a few types, such as the an Xbox System and a Playstation System. The reason for any "trend" towards Consoles is because PC's take up a lot of resources to develop for and not a ton of fans to even sell to. High effort, low returns. You get it? NO ONE IS TRYING TO PRESSURE YOU.

Both PC and Gaming system platforms have equal distribution opportunities. A major factor you have to consider however, is that the amount of space and memory used for a game is massive. To fit all the coding and memory into a PC would be difficult. For a large game like Destiny for example, it would most likely cause lag and frustration on a PC. The fact that it is multiplayer is adding on to the load. Even if you were to have a gaming PC, sadly not everyone has one thus subtracting the need to feed a population that barley compares to the majority of the main gaming systems such as; XBOX, Playstion, etc. My advice is, if you can't wait for the game to come out for the PC, save for a gaming system.

    • People just prefer consoles. The majority I think anyways. I would love to game on my laptop but the biggest issue for me is money. Consoles are inexpensive compared to a good customized gaming PC...that's a major putoff. Especially when I could get the same entertainment value on console.
