50 years from now, pedophilia will become socially accepted.
50 years from now, pedophiles will become more and more accepted in our society of growing tolerance. Coming out as a pedophile will be seen as a brave and wonderful thing, and people will be asking the petitioning the government to make adult-child weddings legal. A powerful video about how the roles of a "pedophiles and regular adults are reversed." will spread quickly among social media websites such as facebook (assuming it is being used).
Pedophilia will not be seen as something that is wrong because it does not hurt others. Pedophiles and their supporters will petition the governments to abolish the age of consent because it is ultimately bigoted towards pedophiles, arguing that children can be taught about sex and they can consent. Anybody who views pedophilia as something wrong will immediately be called a bible thumper/[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law]-godwinslaw!-[/url]/bigot.

Two men, two women, or a man and a woman can make an informed decision about who they will marry, and have legal standing to enter into the marriage contract. An animal, obviously, does not have either ability. So, until animals are made sentient/sapient, and are given the ability to communicate, this argument is null and void, and anyone who presents it is a bigot, bent on making false analogies to try to refute gay marriage. Now this behavior shows homophobia, as you think Gays & Lesbians are different, and not worthy of equal rights. I can show you a study that shows 80% of homophobic becoming sexually aroused when shown gay porn. Now, before you say that EVERYONE is aroused by ALL porn, only 34% of non-homophobes were aroused by the same pornography. So, there are betting odds that you yourself, by showing homophobia, are likely aroused by the gay lifestyle. I would say that you secretly fantasize about men, though I doubt you have gone to the trouble of getting over to the gay side of town...yet. Long face, stop the internal deceit. Come out of that closet, and embrace who you are. I know that your family and friends have probably said mean things about gays, which has led to how you feel about them, but know that they are wrong. It isn't a bad lifestyle, and if you are religious, know that God created both straight and gays, so you still come from god. It isn't a choice you are making...baby you were born that way.

Sexual acts with a prepubescent child are wrong, and that's the definition of a pedophile. A pedophile isn't someone who likes a child that's 14-17. I mean legally they are, but there's a couple countries that has the legal age for sex set to 16.

They don't have the mental ability to deal with marriage, sex and all the other "luxuries" of being classed as an adult. Ergo they won't be allowed to have sex with adults either. Besides, it will never be "socially accepted" because it's sexual abuse of a child. Children cannot give consent.

Actually, adult-child weddings hurt nobody. Edgar Allen Poe - author, poet, and critic married his 13 yr. old cousin and it made him no less a figure for history to remember and praise. The thing isn't a person's attraction to children that brings pedophilia a negative connotation, but the thought that a child would be forced to engaged in intercourse against his/her will while the culprit takes absolute pleasure. That is what we think of in general when we hear the word "pedophile" and thus the hate for anyone branded one. I guess it makes sense, though. We don't want anyone with a taste for children around OUR kids even if he claims to be tame; better safe than sorry. I guess both sides can be done some justice.

If by pedophilia you mean sex with people around the age of 16 or 17. The it is socially acceptable in most of the developed world, America's just a few decades behind again. If you mean sex with actual children, not young adults, then that will never be socially acceptable as someone that young cannot consent and may well be harmed physically and mentally. In gay sex and interracial sex, neither party is harmed, so there can be no victim. Therein lies the difference.

It's also funny how if say a 16 year old commits murder we will usually charge them as an adult so they can go to prison longer yet if they willingly have sex with someone of legal age they are considered the "victim". So killing makes you an "adult" while having sex doesn't. I guess killing is the mature thing to do.

Pedophilia is a sexual orientation just like homosexuality and heterosexuality (along with all of the others) but will not become acceptable due to the fact that a child cannot give consent to something they cannot fully comprehend. It is an extremely traumatic event for the child and should not be handled lightly. As long as a pedophile seeks help and stays under control no children will be harmed, making it so that we can accept pedophiles as people.
