This really should be easy, but it's fun to see what you get.
Have some integrity and don't cheat or lie about your score.
Average score for men: 8.6
Average score fore women: 7.7

I never did well in Chemistry, so I got the Chemical Reaction question wrong, but I still managed to pull off a not so impressive 12/13. Those questions were extremely easy though, for those who paid attention in High School.
-
I answered everything correctly. It was pretty basic.
-
Also this is not a very good indication of actual scientific aptitude

I got 11 out of 13. Damn, I knew fracking had something to do between either coal or natural gas because I heard it used before... And I chose salt dissolving in water instead of nails rusting, which I feel kind of dumb for not picking in the first place. Got to stop second guessing myself :( Yay for 10%!
-
Answered 12/13 correctly. I didn't know WTF "fracking" was lol. I am the 8%

Edited by Cobravert: 4/25/2013 4:17:18 PM13 of 13 I almost failed the last 3 questions about me. That was close. It wasn't hard for anyone who paid attention in science class. The average scores don't really surprise me, seeing other surveys like this on history and such. It makes me wonder how some people ever graduated high school.
-
11/13 But how can I be expected to know the term for extracting natural gas? And the other question was me just being stupid. I won't even post about it.
-
Edited by AcendntSpear: 4/25/2013 4:25:59 PMgot 10/13 scored 63% of pub
-
laaame would have gotten 11/13 but the touchpad skipped a question so i didn't answer. Plus I didn't finish the question before accidentally selecting Next Question.

Edited by Oneironaut: 4/25/2013 4:19:04 PM8/13, I don't feel ashamed and I don't feel embarrassed, Science has never been my strong suit, whats common sense to most people with Science, is foreign to me. I'm actually surprised that I got that amount correct, I'm also mad at myself 'cause a few that I got wrong I only missed because I second guessed myself. Got the fracking one right though, for some reason that one just seemed like common sense to me.

Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 4/25/2013 4:09:25 PMI'd like to point out that this really isn't a good baseline for intelligence. It's more of a question of "what random tidbits of information do you remember from high school?", and even though they sound really easy to most of us and as far as I can tell nobody scored under 10 here, I wouldn't expect a 35 year old desk worker to remember stuff about plate tectonics or atoms.
-
Lol I read nails rusting as nails rustling, and so I got it wrong. xD
-
13/13 like a boss. Most quizzes posted here make me feel stupid.
-
I got 10/13. Mistook red blood cells function for white blood cells function, not good with chemistry so answered sugar dissolving instead nails rusting, and honest to God am surprised to find that there's more nitrogen in the atmosphere than oxygen, lol... I feel kinda stupid now :(
-
13/13 swag.

Edited by Malfar: 4/25/2013 2:52:55 PMHow can something that is part of something be smaller than something... 11/13.. frack..
-
Just to note, guessing will probably give you a score of 5/13 (picking the first choice for all questions will get you 5/13). So those average scores aren't good at all.
-
I missed one;
You scored better than 85% of the public, below 7% and the same as 8%.
Turns out "fracking" is a way to release natural gas from the ground.
-
The fracking one got me. I think I've heard the term before, but I didn't know what it meant.
-
12/13 I knew it was either hydrogen or nitrogen, but I was 60/40 on hydrogen over nitrogen.
-
Got the laser one wrong and I'm ashamed of myself. I said sound. It's 3AM. Sorry guys.
-
I got them all. I am actually surprised.
-
Edited by Cultmeister: 4/25/2013 1:49:22 PMto be fair; a lot of people here are under 18 and so would know more science than the average person, seeing as they're learning it in school. i assume that's why the options didn't include an age below 18.

13/13
-
13 the only one i wasn't sure of was fracking and that's because i haven't done Chemistry for a few years.
-
I got 12 but wasn't sure about one or two - what's the most common gas in the atmosphere? oxygen seems the obvious answer but I said hydrogen just because I know there's more hydrogen than anything else in the universe.
