Bungie has been talking about how they want us to develop a character over time. To make it us. However since their are three class', we would end up missing out on a lot of gameplay styles since we can only play as one class at a time.
One solution would be to have multiple characters that are all you, that way we could experience all the varieties of gameplay. Good idea? Bad idea? You decide.

Bump definitely should do this
-
HOLY SHIT WHO NECROED A POST FROM 2 YEAH BACK?!?!
-
No. One player, one character. Shouldn't be any other way. If you want to play as another character, go buy another copy of the game.

like a warlock rising from the dead the almighty necrobump

N N N N NECROBUMMPPPPPPP
-
Holy necro bump.

-
Wow THAT'S a necrobump.

I play mainly as a Hunter and I love her to pieces. And since I like the class I'm automatically dubbed a -blam!-, jerk, and scrub. And I can be the nicest Hunter out here because I always like to patrol and help new Guardians out. But I'm only a pincushion of obscenities when raiding and falling off the map or in crucible when I'm against shotguns.
-
This would never happen
-
I think I end up a very average player and behind the rest of the gang when it comes to raids. I tend to enter raids without the right build out or at least not as well equipped as I should have been. It does keep me very busy from a a strict PVE standpoint. I'm always accomplishing things with one character just to move on to the next quest/goal or mission. I am making it a point to have a best way to play for each so I'm not a hindrance to any mission I'm invited to. I do not like to be AFK guy.

personally ill probably only have one character but seeing that its going to be rollin for 10 years there should be the ability to roll differn't character

Despite the fact that I chose the third option, I decided that my opinion lies BETWEEN options 1 and 2. The idea is that EVERYONE deserves the chance to try all the characters. Of course, the idea is that you choose one and become attached or connected with him/her/it. But since this is a game for US (the consumers) we should be able to try all the game's features. After all, we paid for it! (yeah, probably weren't thinking about that ^.^) But I do think that people should try to stick with at least one character or two. It really is about connecting with your avatar/character and being you. So that is why I am indecisive, because while all options should be AVAILABLE. It does not mean that players should be able to just make all the characters. Perhaps force the player to have a limit of only 2 or 3 characters? Or make the player have to start over every time they switch. Regardless, this is a great poll and thanks for granting me the opportunity of giving my voice to the others here! Smiles! :)

Hmmm. I'd be nice to have multiple character because then you get to experience every path (Hunter,Warlock,Titan, and also other races). But then again, would the character you're playing really be you? Seeing as how Bungie said: 'Your story begins at this moment of great adventure and perill', notice how they said Your story, they're trying to get you to become the character you play, and I think it's gonna be a really though challenge for Bungie to still give that 'that's me' feeling in a second and third character. I guess we'll see if they pulled it when destiny foretells it :P.
-
As soon as they mentioned character creation, it was clear to me that we'll be able to roll multiple characters.
-
I would love to have three character files to play as warlock, titan, and hunter. But that raises a lot of questions and presents a lot of problems. You wouldn't be able to "become" your character. It wouldn't be you. Competitive multiplayer could become a bunch of noobs running around with their secondary character, wrecking havoc on your team/party without a care in the world. As long as bungie can provide a viable way to "fix" this, I would love multiple characters. but the logistics would be crazy.
-
I'm probably gonna get flamed for this but I'd like to see a one character only system. My reasons for this are twofold. Firstly I like the idea of people becoming attached to their characters, this is something that can be difficult to achieve when you have umpteen alts. Secondly it helps to build community, People are less likely to be ass hats if they only have one character. If you behave like an ass people will soon learn who you are and you will be shunned by the rest of the community.
-
if only if there was a way to put your crazy but I think its not a bad idea but just the ability to delete the character you have and start again so you could try out the classes would be fine with me if its something im going to play id want to be able to try them out and find what fits me.
-
(This is considering factions are joinable) So long as they all have to remain in the same faction, I'm fine with it. Don't want a bunch of turncoats leaking info to the opposing faction in Faction Wars!
-
We definitely should be able to have more than one character.
-
Isn't this what GTA 5 is doing?
-
I don't really care, It's a good idea though.
-
Seems a perfect fit for the Bungie community. with all the alts floating around. Sabotaging and trolling the factions could also add certain tactical options to the gameplay as well as enable the seperate story arcs for each avatar. Why not have "loot" be giftable as well. For bribing and purchasing of players and their unique skill sets. Subterfuge, espionage, assassinations.... Trusting no one but having to rely on others.... good times.
-
I feel as though there will be a way to invest time into multiple characters. Time will tell. I like the idea.
-
Can I somehow select that you are insane, but multiple characters are good?

Edited by creasybear: 4/20/2013 7:53:10 PMI was just about to post my own topic about this. My idea was to offer players a second character that could be an AI that watches your back and fights with you if you don't have other players to accompany you on missions. You could switch to playing this character if you wanted to. I want to build two classes and races at the same time. Too much to ask?
