American Muslims hope bombers are not Muslim

it's gotten to the point that the genuinely innocent Muslims, who work and practice their faith in peace, can no longer be distinguished from these extremists. if you ask them whether they think Extremists are in the same category as them, they will immediately say "no, they are not true followers of Islam, they are deluded fanatics". which is true, they are. after 9/11, 7/7 and other attacks, most of us have decided to simply suspect EVERY Muslim, under the logic that accusing everyone means you have to be correct at some point. now anyone who wears a Burkha or speaks Arabic suddenly becomes a suspect. I hope they aren't Muslims either, but they most likely will be, probably with links to Al Qaeda or ISIS.

3 RepliesWhat I don't understand is why if a Muslim kills people, it's pointed out he (or she) is a Muslim in the news several times. I don't recall any outlet making a comment about Adam Lanza's (Sandy Hook) or James Holmes' (Auror Theater) religious views.

1 ReplyI remember when I was little and 9/11 occurred. We used to make block towers in school. One day some guy came over, toppled mine, and when I told the teacher he said that "I did it." and started crying. The teacher consoled him, and I just sort of sat there. Yes, it bloody well is unfair to brand a whole group on the actions of a few. I'm Muslim (but no I'm not a fracking Zealot. If you've seen my posts on this forum I'm both mathematically proficient- though not to the degree of some of the other wizards on here-, and a paleontologist.) but I don't allow it to constrict my way of thinking. I turn to science for my way of thinking. It asks the questions, and makes me search for answers. I turn to Islam for solitude, when I need to tune out. It makes the questions unnecessary (for a time).

I wonder if the US will team up with Russia to invade Chechnya now seeing as how I'm sure the Russians would love an excuse to wipe it off the map. The vilification of all Muslims by America is a shameful thing and, unfortunately, I only see this making it worse.

I read on CBC that the older brother had converted to Islam. I don't exactly remember, but I think the younger one did too. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't feel that Muslim communities in the West are doing enough to fight radicalization. Not that it's an easy fight by any means. But some of these terrorists aren't preying just Arabic Muslims anymore. One of the terrorists who was killed in the attack on the Nigerian gas plant was a white kid from London, Ontario. Think he was in his early 20s. The kid grew up Greek Orhtodox, too. Obviously someone got to him and messed with his head.

I assure you OP, its not just american muslims. The muslim community here in Australia were also hoping the terrorists werent muslim.
