How light is your car? I drive a pretty light Chevy Cavalier, and on a windy day my car swerves slightly when I go past 70 on the freeway. Just pay attention to the road, signs, and other cars. Don't chance a right-on-red if you're not feeling confident. Driving is pretty easy and relaxing. I enjoy it, and I'm sure you will too. As for how long you should wait before going pedal-to-the-metal, it's really up to you. Nothing particularly hard about driving on the freeway. Try to go 55 and just get to know your area first. Get to know your on and off ramps, where they go, and how to get back to the freeway if you get turned around. I remember getting pretty lost the first time I went out of my usual spots. After you do get to know your surrounding area and whatnot, driving 75-80 MPH will be pretty normal. Always carry a map, or some type of GPS. Don't text and drive, that's just suicide. Wear your seat belt. Don't go 10 MPH past the speed limit if you see a police car. They'll pull you over for the littlest things to meet their quota for the day. I'm serious, and your insurance will SKYROCKET if you do get issued a ticket. Have fun!

  • Actually I'm looking into my own personal car now. I used parents before but I've been saving and am ready for my own personal car. I've been warned to get a cheap car as "the first car is always lost". I guess I should get a GPS, although I have a pretty good memory, like I'm good at remembering where roads lead.
