Anime fans-Naruto Fans: When did Naruto start becoming bad/worse?

Umm ye many Anime fans and Naruto fans say that Naruto started becoming bad despite being on the number 1 spot. Ye I agree with this. The story was much better till after pain...that's when they got the idea "I haz 20 filers den sotry 4 10 epz den 20 filz gain!"...and not to mention how much the anime has forcefully been extended. What about the cheesy jokes in Shippuden. I am a very big fan of Naruto/Naruto Shippuden but I can admit this. So what do you think?

Never really thought it went downhill necessarily. They made some adjustments that I dislike, and some mistakes (How many kinds of rasengans do we have now?), but the overall theme and progression so far has been great. (This is from a manga standpoint, I don't know how much filler they've pumped into the anime.) I dislike that many fights have gotten to the point to where it's just as follows: ninjustu vs ninjutsu vs ninjutsu vs ninjutsu vs ninjustu ect.... until both opponents have exhausted themselves and then end it with one final basic ninjutsu, or fairly hefty punch. (Though granted, some fight are almost the exact opposite of this in part 2, see Sasuke vs. Killer Bee.) Now, I don't mind the endings of those fights. They usually play out fairly well. However, because most of the battles consists entirely of ninjutsu, I feel kinda over-saturated. In part 1, people tended to use ninjutsu almost sparingly, and a great deal of fights were spent using hands, feet, ect. It may be unfair to use this as an example, but in particular, I miss most of Lee's fights, and anything similar to them. However I don't see this as reason to say the show has been in decline. As a matter of fact, the plot seems to be getting much more interesting than it has ever been right now in the latest chapters.

  • Probably when they decided to introduce a billion side Ninja who's presence is ultimately trivial and are mostly around to accompany Naruto into his various romps into Filler Land. It's a problem that Bleach has as well, they introduce far too many Shinigami and try to give all of them their own screen time and it just doesn't work out. Oh yeah, the part where they turned Naruto into a God and ressurected every villain in the series didn't help much. And Kishimoto can't create strong female characters.

    • I really want to enjoy the show. I like the concept, I like [some] of the characters, and the fights (when they occur) are fun. I like watching characters get ridiculously powerful. The problem with it is that the fights take like 7 episodes to complete because they have to stop and explain the entire plan and stare menacingly and growl and shit for like 2 hours. The filler is unacceptable as well. I don't know how someone can justify spending 30 minutes x 450 episodes of their life watching any show, but the storytelling is so slow and poorly paced that it's easy to lose interest despite really wanting to see where the plot goes.

      • The anime of naruto has gone to the gutters with all the fillers. However the manga us amazing and has moved through the story without any fillers or crap.

        • You nailed it. Right after Pain died, the story made a dramatic and terrible shift. The whole kage summit was slow, then it just became so disjointed and really hard to believe in the conflict between Naruto and Sasuke. Part of me feels like Pain was supposed to be the real last villain. This who Tobi and Madara business seems painfully tacked on. If you read the manga, then you know how much they are undoing in the basic story just to keep this crummy arc afloat.
being on the number 1 spot.
What number one spot? Of what? Source? Anyways, the original series sucked after Sasuke left because there was literally like 100 episodes of filler. Shippuden was fantastic all the way through, until recently, because even the filler generally felt relevant to the actual plot. However, the plot itself is piss poorly written. So that's definitely the problem.

          • ahem, I believe it was actually 30 fillers after the Pain fight. But anyway, I really like Naruto when it's not filler. No cheesy jokes immediately come to mind.
