Very true. I've always thought that these "factions" might be the enemies and not ones that we choose. For instance, since we learnt about the space zombies, I thought that the 'Dead Orbit' fit quite well with them. Now that I'm looking at it, it seems that the enemies fit into the factions quite well, I'll explain down below.
New Monarchy - The Fallen (You just said why this works)
Dead Orbit - Space Zombies (It fits)
FWC - Vex (Time traveling robots) FWC being the "Future" war cult.
Osiris - Cabal (Sand eaters, Osiris being egyptian god, egypt being a sandy place... best I could for this one.)
Seven Seraphs - Don't know...

The Seven Seraphs might be home to the Spider Pirates. Seraphs are insects, so are spiders. I'm sure the spider pirates will have other insect-themed warriors and weapons among them.
-
Spiders are not insects. Spiders are arachnids. The Fallen are the Spider Pirates. We've seen the Seven Seraphs emblem on a guardian helmet, so I believe the Fallen won't be a part of the Seven Seraphs.

We might not be able to explore 'em all tartar sauce.
-
Doesn't mean there might not be a Seraph for each.
-
Hmmm... good point.
-
Maybe the Seven Seraphs are the guardians? Or maybe an enemy that's not been shown yet?
-
Perhaps. Those are the 2 things I was thinking. We'll just have to find out I guess. For instance, we have evidence that New Monarchy is a guardian faction. We've seen the mo-cap with the girl on the throne, there was that 'quest' we had to do for the "queen", implying a monarchy. But this new information about The Fallen really makes it seem that they could be the New Monarchy.

i thought fallen were former monarchy for some reason.
