I think, only recently, I realized that I have always been a committed Bungie fan... I suppose I should explain.
I jumped on the bandwagon when Halo and Bungie were synonymous. And, for this reason, Halo to me meant high-quality, high involvement, and level headed design. It was the reason I placed my eggs in the Microsoft basket; I only had originally bought ... well, it was the reason my parents bought me an Xbox. They got me young; I was hooked. I considered myself a "Halo" fan not really a Bungie fan. Halo 2 and Halo ODST are some of my favorite games of all time, and I could argue why they were some of the best ever made even if I was faced with something saying otherwise. They committed to a universe which they created and I was ready to follow that universe anywhere.
Anyway, a couple months ago a new company released a Halo game. It wasn't made by Bungie, but it was a company dedicated to an IP I loved. That game was the biggest video game let down I've ever had. I can't say I expected the best game ever, quite the contrary really... But, it wasn't Halo as I knew it. I don't know why it didn't seem to dawn on me until recently, but the missing link was obvious: that game wasn't a Bungie game.
This, though. Destiny? I am excited. This sounds like a Bungie game. This looks like a Bungie game.
I now leave this up to fate. I will watch attentively as details follow. Is Destiny the "sequel" I've waited for? I'll have to wait and see. Either way, it's great to see them back at it.

I have been lucky enough to play since halo c/e. I wish I new more of marathon though. I want to say that I am pretty much in the same boat as you. I was unhappy with the activision/Bungie team up when it was announced. So I followed halo. It was ok though because Bungie was dark. I have to say IMO halo 4 is the biggest piece of dirt. It's not halo. So for me, halo finished when Bungie finished. I am greatly looking forward to destiny.

I'm on the same Wagon. I wasn't there at the start of it all, but fell in love with Bungie and their love of the community (which rubbed of quite well ;D ). There is a distinct difference between Halo w/o Bungie and Halo w/ Bungie, and I know what/where/who I'll want to stand behind and support!

Edited by Vynn Sarr: 2/19/2013 9:24:59 PMFor me, I was a Bungie fan since I first laid eyes on Halo 2. I don't know what it was, but that game just felt "right." Then after getting Halo 3 I realized that Bungie was something special. I have always loved Halo, and I have to agree that Halo 4 just didn't have that same feeling as the other ones did. I just couldn't fall in love like I did with Bungie's Halo. I have high hopes for Destiny, and I have faith that Bungie will never let us down.

Again, I have to agree, Halo 4 felt too.... I dunno wrong, the mechanics were good, the story was okay but it just felt a bit off. I have had every Halo since C/E and I didn't realize the difference it would make when Bungie lost the Helm until I bought Halo 4, completed the campaign, played 2 games online and have not been back on since
